The complexities of human sexuality are all out in the open nowadays. Our Greek and Roman cultural ancestors never fussed much about it. They seemed to do whatever they felt like, especially if aristocrats.

Most people just have no issues with it, but surely for some number of people sexual and/or love interests are different or variable. I have seen it many times. It's a given that sex life and love life are important parts of life. As an MD, I remain a skeptic about the trans fad because I know that people have fantasies about everything. Fantasies are always interesting.

Yes, the Greeks and Romans were more open about such things, but they both defined marriage as between a man and woman.

I wonder if those same professional therapeutic bodies view transsexuals (I think I know). In the case of gays wanting to be converted to straight, I suspect those professionals would say they are unhappy with their reality and trying to change that reality is counter productive or even dangerous. Aren't transsexuals unhappy with their reality (they are biologically one sex but are unhappy with that reality and want to change that reality through various means, including surgery. For some reason, their unhappiness should be "resolved", even at public expense but presumably, the gay's unhappiness needs to be the subject of therapy.

A quote that only proves that "big lie" propaganda works - there is no "gay gene" and homosexuals are not "born that way".

Therapy to change lifestyle is no different from other therapy. Using scare terms like "conversion therapy" is part of the public relations snow job... in fact many if not most gay men have performed sexually with women, often for years before they "come out".

The "trans fad" is exceptionally complicated because while there are a number of sex chromosome linked anomalies, and we can posit other things that might actually cause someone to feel that their body and brain are not in alignment, what we're mostly seeing (from what I've been seeing) is along the lines of an epidemic of *teenage girls*.

Historically it's been (and given the stability of the Y chromosome this makes sense) men who mostly had this.

I suspect most of these cases would have a different diagnosis if we weren't trying to destroy western culture and the family.,

Correct.
I know and have known people who were "real" transgender people, and went through the normal years and years of psychological counceling followed by years and years of medication and cosmetic procedures (very painful removal of all body hair for example) before being approved to change their legal gender and getting scheduled for gender adjustment surgery.

I also know and have known (through the same channels) several hermaphrodites, people who have rare conditions where they actually have 3 sex chromosomes, so XXY, or for other reasons had their bodies create both male and female sex organs.

All of them are disgusted by the whole "trans" movement, they just want to be treated like normal human beings and not as outcasts within their own families and communities.

It's the same with every single homosexual I've known, they want nothing to do with the whole "gay pride" phenomenon as it polarises homosexual and heterosexual communities.

So much to say here. The Quillette article is welcome and almost gets it. Still much lacking.

As with many cultures, powerful men could screw whoever they wanted to: multiple women, girls, boys. The Greeks and Romans absolutely DID fuss about the issue in general. They did not accept homosexuality, they accepted a certain type of man-boy relationship for the wealthIest of men. Not the same thing. Everyone else was still subject to execution.

William O'B has read or observed a few things, but there is much more. Autistic boys, who feel out-of-place in many ways, have started to speculate that they would be happier as girls. They aren't . The suicide rate is horrifying. Next, about half of the men wanting to become women have autogynephilia a condition we are not allowed to notice or acknowledge. Basically, they don't believe they are women so much as get off on the idea of thinking of themselves as women. Great research out of Johns Hopkins on this, but don't get caught saying it out loud.

Will OB is correct that there is a cultural aspect, but it's a little different. Teenagers have felt anxious, out-of-place, and confused for centuries. These days they are encouraged to consider one of the silliest possibilities ever, that they are really unicorns another sex.

What a jumble of insanity. If you are a trans man and you like trans women are you really a lesbian? What you are really is nutty as fruitcake, as the Southernism goes, and I don't care about your terminology or your burden about it.

Trans anything is mental illness. Those suggesting to children the problems of growing up can be solved with a sex change are irresponsible, even criminal. The suicide rate among the transitioned proves it. And parents encourage this?

Gay, straight, I don't care. When you go beyond that and think your biggest problem is a technical term for the relationship you are badly mistaken.

This discussion begs the question. I don't care what you or others do. I do care when you or others try to force me to approve of what you do. Or try to make laws that give special privliges to pervs and nutcases (seriously do you think men fucking little boys in the ass is NOT insanity???) Homosexuality is a mental illness. Keep it in your bedroom and with consenting adults and I don't care. Try to teach it in school to little children so you can pervert them to your psychosis and you should be horse whipped.
