Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

The end of ski season

From our friend in Colorado this week:


 Near the top of Loveland. The ridge is the Continental Divide, some 12,000 feet. There are 2 ways to get from the east side to the west side: Route 6, Loveland Pass, a steep and winding road that truckers must use if hauling hazardous stuff, or the Eisenhower Tunnel, which goes through the mountain I am standing on.

The Arapaho Basin ski area on the other side of the pass is schedule to close on June 6. There's snow in the forecast.

My annual pilgrimage is to ski A-Basin on Memorial Day. Great fun and a good time is had by all.

Breckenridge is still open. You go up top via Peak 8 base lifts to Imperial or T-Bar.

A-Basin is still open.

I've been over/through both the pass and the tunnel. The tunnel's better.
