Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Now that Chauvin was found guilty on all three counts, the excuses for riots because We Are SO Pissed Off aren’t finished, just later in the calendar to the aggravated sentencing hearing and sentencing in 8 weeks.
“He only got 3 life sentences with no parole?! BURN IT ALL DOWN!!” What’s the over/under on number of police early retirements across the country during the rest of 2021? And how many more people will be murdered — the majority of them black, most likely — in that time and going forward as a result? Jeff #1: The over numbers are HUGE. The unders, miniscule.
Ontario’s Covid Tyranny and Democrats’ War on Police: Canadians used to be calm, I've read. WUT!? – More Than a Third of Liberals Believe 1000+ Black Americans Were Killed by Police in 2019. Liberals will believe ANYTHING...except truth. Glenn Greenwald on what the truth about Officer Sicknick's death says about the media: "So The New York Times on January 8 published an emotionally gut-wrenching but complete fiction that never had any evidence..." This is just one example of why I say I despise, detest, and TOTALLY distrust the NYT. (Also the WaPoo and the rest of the media.) The New York Times Has Just BeenCaught In Two Monstrous Lies: Loooooooooooooooooooooooooong overdue... Sam - the Ontarians are pushing back against the latest diktats. Unfortunately, the political parties not forming the government (as in the opposition) and the MSM are united in castigating the Ford government for NOT totally locking down the province. Needless to say, those calling loudest for major shutdowns aren't at danger of missing a paycheque.
QUOTE: [i]"“The rules are simple: they lie to us, we know they're lying, they know we know they're lying, but they keep lying to us, and we keep pretending to believe them.” [i] - Elena Gorokhova . Solzhenitsyn has a similar quote attributed to him. The Climate Crisis, the the Trump impeachment fables, the BLM scam and CRT; the COVID shutdown, still being promoted here and abroad; The list goes on...... But lying isn't the only offense. Abuse of office is another, worse one. We should stop pretending to believe them. We can see how things turned out for Soviet Russia and should note the similarities in style and substance from our present Ruling Class. "Just stay home: U.S. puts 80% of the world on Do Not Travel list"
Meanwhile the rest of the world has decided that traveling to the US is not a smart idea, what with black genocidal mobs ruling the country. I’m not sure what would prompt me to go back to visit anything but the rural US. $5M....meh prolly not. Why would I want to voluntarily engage with the US underclass? US cities are shitholes.
Looks like my long planned dove hunt-of-a-lifetime in Uruguay is cancelled/postponed again, with any luck to 2022. Was originally scheduled for July 2020 so you know how that worked out.
Good article about pathogens at AIER by Jeffrey Tucker
https://www.aier.org/article/pathogens-in-one-lesson-courtesy-of-sunetra-gupta/ Essentially a book review of “Pandemics: Our Fears and The Facts” by Dr Sunetra Gupta. I just ordered it for Kindle Library. It makes the case that your immune system — not viruses — is by far the most important thing we all should be most concerned about, along with two important statistics: QUOTE: The CDC reports that fully 94% of people classified as having died from SARS-CoV-2 had two or more serious health problems besides the germ in question. Likewise, 78% percent of severe cases in the U.S. were overweight or obese, a fact that ought to prompt reflection about American lifestyles rather than the conclusion that the disease is particularly deadly. While this is what the headline of the article says, the headline doesn't accurately represent the article. It's even worse. QUOTE: A nationally commissioned survey asked respondents for an estimation of how many unarmed black men were killed by the police in 2019. Forty-four percent of liberals said it was 1000 or more. In reality, the number was actually no more than 27. The article points out that the number of unarmed black men shot by law enforcement was much smaller than 1,000.The survey, commissioned by Skeptic Mag, asked respondents: “If you had to guess, how many unarmed Black men were killed by police in 2019?” Among those identified as “Very Liberal,” a majority (about 53 percent) of them estimated that the number of unarmed blacks killed by police in 2019 was one thousand or over, with about 22 percent putting the number at ten thousand or above. Almost 39 percent of those who were simply “Liberal” guessed “About 1,000”, with a further 12 percent claiming the number was more like 10,000 or more. Approximately 25 percent of self-declared “Moderates”, nine percent of “Conservatives”, and 13 percent of “Very Conservative” Americans estimated at “about” one thousand. Those listed “Conservative” or “Very Conservative” guessed closest to the actual number. The numbers are especially galling given the left’s claims to science, data, and reason. In reality, it appears they are far more prone to wild conspiracy theories than the political right. QUOTE: According to the Washington Post’s own database, the actual number of unarmed black men “fatally shot” in 2019 by police was thirteen (13). According to the Mapping Police Violence database, which is put together by both data scientists and activists, twenty-seven (27) unarmed black men “were killed by police (by any means) in 2019.” The entire media is one giant gaslighting operation but millions of people still consume it like it’s truthful, complete, relatively free from bias, and — here’s where the rubber meets the road — can be used to form opinions that are worth a damn.
It’s nothing at all like that. Oh it’s got a shine on it — the media’s great at appearances — and some journalists aren’t as horrible as the rest, but 98% garbage is still garbage. Pushing CRT and white privilege has a cure that the state of Arkansas is ready to pass. The Arkansas senate passed a bill (25-6) that funds students instead of systems. Senate bill 680 now goes to the Arkansas house. This is basically a voucher system that allows parents to send their kids to the school of the parents choice rather than the school of the governments choice.
I'll be quite proud of those Hillbillies, and I use the term with nothing but fondness, if that bill passes. Perhaps it will be a beacon to other states, surely a few of whom, still have some intelligence, morals and common sense. Hoping, anyway.
