Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Why not fly all those illegals to DC and house them in the Capital offices. They’ll be protected by the National Guard and can have $10 a pint ice cream in Nancy Pelosi’s office at 3 every afternoon. The accommodations will be way better than the Obama cages.
Cuomo: Not a fan here and I do think he, and the other governors, should be held accountable for their reckless disregard for nursing homes. In addition, Cuomo needs to be indicted for
the submission of false information on Grannygate. That said, I caution you to take the "me too" pile on with a grain of salt; we know that Progs have a very loose relationship with truth and reality and are not above fabricating stories. See Bret Kavanaugh claims. Breonna Taylor family got $12M, and that was at least legit. In that payoff the municipal authorities were dodging "Discovery"
which would have revealed inept judicial review and police supervisory review. It was only minimally and secondarily the fault of the officers on the scene. My bad, it's the risk of relying on a small screen. This is meant to be under the next post, so should be #3.1.
I don't think it was legit. She was complicit in selling drugs. That was the reason they had a warrant to search her apartment. Her boyfriend fired at the police and they returned fire. The fact that she was shot was 100% her fault and within her control. All she had to do was open the frigging door.
As for Floyd he died from an overdose. The hold that the police officer used was the prescribed hold for a uncooperative prisoner and would not have killed him. The story of his death is 100% false. He killed himself. OneGuy, I think you are wish casting and missed this point: "Discovery" which would have revealed INEPT judicial review and INEPT police supervisory review.'
There is a REASON that the Taylor $$$settlement was 6X the norm and that is that the defense did not want to produce their records under "Discovery". Note, I'm not arguing that there were not reasons to suspect that Ms Taylor knew of the illicit drug trade, BUT they were circumstantial and insufficient to justify a middle of the night "no knock" raid. con't , wouldn't let me post in one comment:
That's the first thing the authorities were trying to deflect attention from, that the DA's office signed off on this. The second issue, ineptness of police supervision, is that the suspect's apartment was not surveilled in advance of the raid. This is gross incompetence and has been subjected to a lot of criticism by professional policemen and attorneys. Usual "professional" protocol is to keep tabs on the premises and know who is present and what risk they pose. This obvious protocol was not performed, hence another reason that Breonna Taylor should not have died that night. Also, a lot of the evidence against Breonna Taylor wasn't determined until AFTER the "no knock" raid, IOW after the fact. I get my take from Viva Barnes law, Uncivil Law, and Nate Brody's website; they rely on the "FOR THE RECORD", website. They are all sympathetic to the police and Nate is a former policeman, former prosecutor, and current defense attorney.

The late Breonna Taylor was recorded conspiring with a prisoner to retrieve his drug cache and hid them until he could get out. I don't think "circumstantial" means what you think it means.
No knock Warrants are standard for drug pushers simply because the drugs can easily be flushed down the toilet. However they DID knock and waited patiently for someone to answer when suddenly they were fired upon. Hmmm! That breaks numerous laws. "Raid"!! Again I don't think that word means what you think it does. Now the "raid" on Roger Stone's house WAS a raid. Politically motivated and intended to destroy Democracy. THAT was a RAID!! It is 100% incorrect that ALL subjects premises are surveilled before serving a search warrant. If that is what your sources tell you than you need new sources. In fact the police did nothing wrong. You could argue that firing a round that penetrated a different apartment was "wrong" but I would conclude from that you have no experience in real life self defense situation. It is always regretable when criminals instigate shooting and others are harmed. Under ordinary circumstances if that death were to go to trial Breonna's boyfriend would have been charged with that death not the police. My last point, not to piss off lawyers, but... Lawyers lie, they lie for money, they are paid by the hour to lie. IMHO Lawyers, including the judge, should be under oath for everything they do in their job.

re: the "me-too" alllegations against Cuomo,
"...not above fabricating stories" Either Cuomo is guilty of sexual harrasment, or the accusers are telling bald faced lies. somebody needs to be indicted. If the accusers are being manipulated by other people behind the scenes, then they need to be indicted for conspiracy. Minneapolis: Some insider sold them out. If they thought they were buying off violent riots, they should think again. This is an over the top(4-6X)settlement by any standards. The people who remain in Minneapolis will bear the brunt of mediocre government and sub par legal representation.
In other words, they will bear the brunt of what they overwhelmingly voted for, but are terrified of voicing criticism of, for fear of being branded of 'racist' wrong-think. Even more disturbing, being apparently incapable of thinking critically in private, they will vote for it again.
Behold the power of indoctrination for establishing ideological conformance. I agree with you, but the spam filter requires me to go on and on about it.
As a prior Minnesota resident (and near Minneapolis) I was hoping for a $100 million settlement to help insure that it would help strip residents of any police protection, their light rail malfunction, and allow the streets to return to pot holed gravel. Minneapolis is short of critical thinking skills involving white privilege, reparations, and black crime and education. On originality they flunk the course...it looks more and more like the Rodney King outcome but with Rodney deceased. But as always the lawyers came out fat.

You’ve been posting the daily links later than usual, BD. I hope that’s not a sign of anything troubling!
All the adults have left the Federal Bureaucracy, or how else to explain the harping, carping, gassing, and scolding over Tucker Carlson's comments. I'm guessing the speaker had the backing of his superiors since bureaucrats aren't noted for courage. Professional military types must be rolling over in their graves.
I've been cautioning since November that real patriots aren't going to find a home in the military. It's noble and heroic to defend the constitution but not the globalist, statist replacement. In that case, you are just a mercenary, nothing more. "[H]ow else to explain the harping, carping, gassing, and scolding over Tucker Carlson's comments."
Senior military personnel positioning themselves for that post-retirement contract business inside the Beltway. If you don't show you have "progressive" accreditation, that other retired general is going to get to the consulting trough instead. Our "woke" military leaders are going to get a lot of people killed.
Obama "stacked" the officer ranks with activists and our woke MSM helped insure that the military academy's prioritized wokeness. We will all pay the price for this foolishness. China is the most likely to take advantage of our advertised weakness. Most likely they will take Taiwan and in the process take out a few of our ships. Watch for it. It will be incredible. I predict that when China does take back Taiwan it will be over in less than 24 hours and over half of the Taiwan citizens will be dead. It will be the Chinese version of blitzkrieg. (Would that be "shih tzu krieg?) It will be warning to the world that China is the next super power and your fortune cookie will predict bad luck for Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines. Don't believe it just watch! Classic Atlantic. So a curriculum based on Black Lives Matter" is raising questionsabout the line between indoctrination and education.
Education is always indoctrination. That's what it's for. But sometimes what you indoctrinate children with are the ideas of free speech, respectful disagreement, providing evidence for their claims. America probably never did this anywhere near as well as it pretended, but it was at least the ideal, and attempted. Now it is not even being allowed. Convert PreK to 12 education to 1 to 12 education funded by vouchers that go to parents rather than education facilities.
I wish people would stop saying Biden's plan. It isn't his plan as he doesn't know who or where he is most days. Someone else is coming up with all this $hit to take down this country and its people.
Re: Government Payouts
In what is claimed to be "the largest pretrial settlement in a civil rights wrongful death lawsuit in U.S. history," the far-left Minneapolis City Council has voted 13 to 0 to pay $27 million to the family of George Floyd. What people don't understand is that the government can't simply "give-away" tax money as a bribe. The government isn't authorized to award one single penny to anyone. If a crime has been committed, the persons responsible must first be charged, and then tried. The point being that the government can't pay people to go away. This happens again and again. America needs a new rule: No alleged victim may sue the government for cash. The government isn't authorized to give away tax money. If a crime has been committed, then criminal charges must be filed. Government employees are not immune from prosecution. WISCONSIN is in TROUBLE
Twice in the past 2 months I have ordered products that came from Wisconsin. One is from a company that manufactures there and I have ordered from for 34 years! Used to be able to talk to women who worked at or next door to the plant. They KNEW the product. The call center has been moved to FL those are nice women--but, they have no clue about the product! Second item is assembled in Wisconsin for a company whose headquarters are in Vermont. Package arrived to day totally torn apart. it looks as if this $1,000 product was thrown into the box. The packing slots were not used and as a result the heavy product bounced around and broke through the box. I have seen many families (white middle class) move into my state this past summer. Quite a few were running away from Wisconsin--I know correlation does not equal causation. HOWEVER in this case . . . At least with Cuomo being taken down, maybe we can get a decent replacement for him. What's Michael Avenati doing these days?
Covid predictions: Yes, and the skeptics assured us that it was "just the flu" and sneered at claims - made here - that we were going to have over 100,000 dead. Those predictions didn't hold up so well either. The site linked to is called "Just the News" and asks us to support "honest journalism." I don't know anything about them, but those are bad signs. When people say "just the news," I suspect they are going to leave some parts out that they don't like. And when I see the claim of honest journalism I think of "Honest Ed's Used Cars." It's usually liberals who name themselves Truthout or Citizens for Justice and the like.
They might be fine, or at least generally so. But now the first article I saw there left out a big part of the story. |
