We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Journalists against free speech

Journalists Mobilize Against Free Speech


It's an interesting development. Evil, of course by American standards, but, as the article points out, the USA is an outlier in the world when it comes to free thought and free speech. Establishments and powers hate freedom. Thus American values.

Call me cynical, but I think they see a chance to squash their competitors and are taking it. Revenue would surely rise if they become the ONLY source of information.

Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

This is exactly what is going on with the climate change issue. They gain power from the crisis so the crisis MUST be promoted and all dissent muzzled.

I was just listening to something by Jaron Lanier list night. A presentation he made a couple of years ago in 2018 to a New York City techie/progressive crowd. Google him and you will see he is a rather lefty and idiosyncratic tech guru who has been speaking out against the dangers of social media technology. The guy is obviously very smart and worth listening to to get a unique perspective on things.

One of the thing he basically said is that there is no such thing as "journalism" any more. Instead, there are "media manipulators," all spinning their own propaganda to anger and polarize people because that results in more hits and thus more income for them. Without using the word "fake" (he's no Trump fan) he basically said all the media are fake.

The irony is that without Donald Trump to go after and demonize every day, the media manipulators are going to lose their audiences. So in order to keep their hits and incomes up, they will have to create new enemies to go after, whether it is Fox, White Supremacism, Domestic Terrorists, Q-Anon or Climate Deniers.

The Democrat party has turned into the Bolshevik party. They stole the election(s) and now they intend to take our country from us. The media is complicit. Have you noticed every media outlet when reporting on anything connected to the election they state that the person falsely claims the election was stolen. It is a case of either the government "owns" the media (which is the classic definition of Fascism) OR that the media is being cowed into following along like a good useful idiot.

We know they are lying

But they are still lying.


Our republic is gone. There is a reason they have 15,000 troops in DC. They intend to do things we would stop them from doing if we can. Now it is just a countdown until we reach the glories of communism and full shithole country status.

We are about to get a lesson in how communism takes over a country without the citizens trying to stop them. It is a lesson that can only be learned in one way. Dissent will not be allowed and will be punished ruthlessly.

I blame the Republicans, and the courts. But mostly I blame SCOTUS who was given the last and best opportunity to stop this and even though it was 100% in their ball park they choose to not do their job. This is why Antonin Scalia had to be killed.
