We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
At greasy spoon restaurants, you will often see pre-cooked burger patties warming in a large rectangular container of grease. When someone orders a burger, they pluck one out and grill it for a few seconds before slapping it on the bun. That seems to be pretty much the same as those canned burgers.
After 20 years in the military more than 50 years ago I ate everything and liked it. 30 year old powdered eggs for breakfast, field rations, mystery meat, slop. But my favorite shift was nights because I could eat breakfast at midnight AND at 8 in the morning after getting off shift and of course I ate lunch and dinner too because for some reason I actually liked chow hall food.
The food boxes that poor people in America receive have a big can of cooked ground beef inside. But it's not formed into hamburgers. I think that hamburgers would be better. And as far as that goes, they could make the hamburgers with fifty percent soy protein; people wouldn't care. But Burger King would have a fit. And so would Tyson Foods. They don't want people to know that soy-protein burgers taste good. Then people would realize that the "Impossible Burger" is impossibly horrible, on purpose. Remember: We must eat more cows! And just to show you how crooked the cow business really is, look at this link which shows the four biggest cattle slaughterhouses: https://www.fool.com/investing/general/2015/09/17/yup-80-of-our-beef-comes-from-4-producers.aspx
As you can see, these companies are called "Producers". That's a sleight-of-hand trick to avoid naming the actual cattle ranchers. Why do they do this? Because the ranchers illegally stuff the cows full of anti-biotics, and then illegally bribe the Congressmen, so that they can feed the cows on public land for free. They don't want their names in the newspaper. And they sure as hell don't want people to discuss the morality of the bloodthirsty murder of millions of God's creatures. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KezHKbUzy0A
Trying to comprehend your logic. Did Burger King put hamburger in the food boxes? Assuming Tyson WAS putting meat in the boxes, they will do whatever the minimal cost is to fill the contract. Which would have included 50% soy protein IF it was allowed & they could do it at a lower cost.
To claim that farmers are illegally using anti-botics is you talking out of you backside. Example is the test for penicillin in milk: 10 parts per is the legal limit. The test is actually sensitive to 2 parts per. So milk that would meet the 10 could still be being dumped down to the range of the 2-10.
FDA spent 2 years testing 100's (1000's?) of random samples from store shelves for various drugs. What they reported at the end was about 15 items had some level of drug. What they didn't tell was if it was including that some of the tests were more sensitive that the law required.
Is there a way to legally bribe the congress persons?
When I was a kid (over 50 years ago) I'd often enjoy some kind of vegeburger out of a can. It wasn't close to a real burger but it was a great sandwich in its own right. Loma Linda brand, I think. They also had a fun fake hot dog--like eating hazelnut Jello on a bun.
