Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

I agree, and agree with David Bernstein's post over at Insty (which has predictably attracted a record number of replies - which I am going to read zero of).
Claiming that he really won and a few thousand votes here and there would have put him over the top if only he could prove it in time is one thing. Even though I now think the evidence of fraud is poor, there was a time when I thought it likely and can see why he and his supporters would cling to that, as campaigns do. But claiming that he won in a landslide has no foundation whatsoever, and continuing to make that claim, even if the face of losing case after case, including in front of sympathetic judges, is to undermine the idea that our elections are even close to fair is to tell people that they have no resort to the ballot box, which leads them to conclude...what, exactly? He pissed away Georgia's Senate seats by focusing entirely on his own ego. I voted for him, but good riddance at this point. Tom Cotton is making a lot of sense at present. I await the predictable responses of people making the same oft-refuted arguments. I won't reply, however.
Which shows that you are either blind, can't read the US Constitution or, for example, the laws of Pennsylvania. I've made dozens of substantiated claims that you have never refuted. I already know not to wait for your reply.
"Nineteen counties have been identified whose vote is viewed as a particularly good predictor of the outcome in the presidential election. They are virtually certain to go with the winner. It has been assumed that if a candidate carries 15 to 16 of those 19 counties, he is also bound to be the winner of the presidency.
How, then, did the 2020 election turn out in those bellwether counties? Trump won no fewer than 18 of the 19! Even more telling, he improved his performance in these counties."https://www.theamericanconservative.com/articles/the-2020-election-what-happened-a-political-scientists-memorandum/ The bellwether is a huge tell as to the discrepancy of the election. There are so many other problems too. It is just easier not to address those problems. I guess we will wait until it blows up.
I attended the rally in Dalton and DC this week and I have found the people are like those of us who attend the urban hikes. Very good folks. I don’t believe that the Capital breech was a Trump crowd event. It was sort of difficult to know who was who but there were people with gas masks and baseball bats who I don’t believe were there to support Trump. There were an amazing number of flags and banners. I believe that Trump is the best president we have ever had. Those who claim there is NO EVIDENCE never bother to tell us what exactly they would accept as evidence of fraud!
They reject videos, a sworn affidavits, expert statistical analyses, including statements regarding highly impossible statistical outcomes, expert analysis of computer programs and the like! And don't tell ME the "Courts rejected that evidence" when all the gutless judges did, was kick cases out of court early on, relying on "STANDING," a procedural technicality!! THE COURTS NEVER. REVIEWED. THE. EVIDENCE.! There's good reason AVI CALLS HERSELF THAT! AVI is simply one of those, who would never be satisfied (except may with a video of people wearing Hamburglar suits using large magic makers to repeatedly make obvious X's next to Biden's name on multiple giant paper ballots!!) Yet, I'll bet AVI loved Bernie Madoff's conviction for a billion$$$ embezzlement, on exactly the same kinds of evidence as voter fraud. After all, there were no videos of Bernie wearing his green eye shades and erasing written numbers in an account ledger! The media, which have been viciously slandering Trump and Republicans since 2008 instead of giving us honest news, are what happened to Trump.
That, and a lot of Republican Congresscritters who were closet NeverTrumpers (McConnell I expected but Rand Paul I didn't), backstabbed him because they'd rather look sane on the evening fake news than save the Republic. We are running out of options other than war. The first three boxes have been taken away from us. All of those who claimed to have Trump's back in DC are in high-gear cover-your-ass mode. Even if the appreciate what he's done for us by even the smallest token, they see the writing on the wall, so it's back to the status quo we go.
We put up a good fight but evil won this round. The Left has put on a four-year-long temper tantrum in response to Trump’s 2016 victory, culminating with them turning 2020 into the worst year of riots since 1968. Worse was the running coup attempt against Trump that began before he was even sworn into office.
“He egged on his supporters” yesterday, the Democrat-Media Complex claims. But that’s exactly what the Democrats have done on an ongoing basis since the morning of November 9, 2016. Exactly, and if you're counting property damage, last year's Democrat riots were infinitely worse.
As for the "sacred" Congress building being "defiled" (as I've seen it said), as far as I'm concerned the only truly sacred things in Washington, D.C. are the original copies of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence, housed in the National Archives. Those are what's sacred, not Congress, which has become a People's Palace in the Communist sense — a place where your overlords meet to decide how to infringe your liberty. Re: quitting. Oh, such brave people bravely quitting two weeks early! All appropriate honor to them!
It is stunning the people on our side who can't wait to throw up their hands and say" Well now there's noting we can do now".
Historians say one third of colonials supported the crown, one third were ambivalent and one third supported our independence from Britian. It took years and great effort but they did not give up ...and neither shall we. From what I've read, it wasn't even as much as a third that supported the American revolution, and a fraction of that who actually did something about it.
Today we can see exactly who believes the Trump message and who is more worried about their sinecure within the Federal Government. I have a lot of respect for Mick Mulvaney, but I had more respect for him yesterday. Why not quietly resign, if for the sake of his conscience? It's for the sake of something else. Today he, and people like him, are the rats. The people who believe Trump is somehow off the rails are the people who are believing what they hear, watching the edited clips, and not watching what Trump does. Each should ask themselves: How many clips have you seen of the 'violent protest'? The networks were not even present. One veteran, a taxpayer and business owner, received a shot through the neck climbing through a broken window. Compare and contrast to last summer in Washington DC when Antifa was setting fire to churches. And nobody was shot. Of course the Establishment - both Republican and Democrat - is going to do every thing that they possibly can to paint his departure in the very worst possible light. What have they been doing the past 4 years?? It's the story of his presidency. And I'm appalled that so many are so eager to forget the searing injustices of what they have been witnessing in serial fashion, over this time. The perpetrators of those acts remain. Those people are still there. And I am not talking about the election. re Former AG Barr: Trump Betrayed ‘His Office And Supporters,
That's ironic, coming from Barr. An incompetent, pompous buffoon, incapable of introspection. Fuck 'em. Fuck 'em all. Maybe, but I think this scene might be more accurate.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dhm1X1FvC_U Hear, hear.
This was Caesar in the Roman Senate all over again. With multiple Brutuses. Yes, Trump has lost it. But all the screaming and handwringing of the DC political class turned up to eleven squared, does not make sense when you look at Schumer and Pelosi calling for VP Pence to exercise the 25th Amendment to boot Trump out of office immediately.
That is the equivalent of pouring a tankerload of gasoline and napalm on the current fires burning. He will be out of office in less than two weeks, their insistence on the most radical response is just the latest breech of any pretense of bringing the country together. Pelosi tearing up the State of the Union speech and aggressively pushing the crazy impeachment process was horribly divisive and a bigger threat to the cohesion of our governmental system than any of Trump's contentious words (prior to the last three weeks) which were paired during his term with full compliance with the courts and constitutional norms. Look at what he did, instead of obsessing about what he said and how he said it. But this week he failed his test. Sad. Cowards bailing hoping no one will notice them...pathetic.
Heroes have great strengths and great weaknesses.
I'd say that his greatest weakness was hiring bad people. Either he didn't vet them properly or they lied to him -eg. Sessions, Tillerson, Mattis, Wray, et al. Possibly his next greatest weakness was trusting people. How many times did he go out of his way to help someone (or take their advice) only to have them stab him in the back -eg. Romney, Kemp, Christie, Barr, et. al? Thirdly, I'd say that not being a politician, I don't think he fully appreciated what a toxic environment DC is. The irony is that Sessions was the most loyal and honest of all I mentioned but he was the wrong man for the job. I'm only surprised that people have forgotten the Democrats organized and carried out the exact same kind of conduct during the Kavanaugh confirmation process. Now it is a "riot" being carried out "to subvert the will of the people"; then "it was the public expressing their opposition" to Kavanaugh. But it was the same invasion of the Capitol and forced physical disruption of the hearing and confirmation process--which occurred multiple times.
Now the Democrats act shocked, like somehow this is an unprecedented assault. But they played the same game two years ago. We could also get into how the claims against Kavanaugh were similarly built on an entirely fabricated false narrative accusing Kavanaugh of every crime under the sun short of murder. Not defending what happened, just saying the Democrats set the precedent and standards for the behavior. Yes if that rabble rouser Tom Paine had just shut up and the thug Washington had stayed home and tended his garden we'd be ever so much better off and safe in the arms of the queen today.
Fraud. The courts won't hear it, the press hides it, congress ignores it. What the heck do you expect we the people to do? Congratulations virtue signalers, you won't be happy until you kill the bad orange man and your ever loving banana republic gives you are free unicorn in every garage and pot in every pot. TPTB wouldn't even deign to investigate or hear evidence. The media tried to cover it up faster than a dog buries a juicy bone.
I don't care about your rules and procedures anymore. I don't care about the laws selectively enforced. I don't care about your 'norms' or decorum. I don't care about your opinions. Your admonishments are meaningless and worthless. Bring the whole corrupt system down. The cartridge box is the only thing left that will work. They've proven nothing else will. All last year the Left wrote a new rulebook for how to conduct "outdoor political action" — this, on top of a four-year+ temper tantrum over Trump's election.
What goes around, comes around. The American people are simply morons, as evidenced all over the media and internet.
Anyone from a Chicago political background knew this was coming when Obama won. He took the Chicago political machine national, one of the most successful quasi criminal enterprises of all time is now installed in every critical voting district in the nation. The media screams no wide spread fraud. The Machine knows it only needs to target the swings and it is all over. They weren't expecting 2016 but were ready for 2020. There will never be another Republican president who is not a total cuk again, ever. Republicans and conservatives have been extinct in Chicago for almost a century and the ones that hold state office are simply Democrats in Brooks brothers suits. Always have been. It is not over till the fat lady sings. Well, she has sung and her name is Stacey Abrams........ I grew up in Chicago and remember going door to door handing out fliers for the original Mayor Daley. Been downstate most of my life though.
Illinois politics is so corrupt that most of us have lost agency. Those that can, leave. The teachers unions and other public sector unions own the state. Hopefully the secession movement takes hold soon. There is civil war brewing. Folks are scared and pissed. We are definitely clinging to our guns and bibles now. Classic rats leaving a sinking ship, absolutely shameful as someone once said "enjoy the decline".
All these cowards from McConnell on down sealed the fate of their party. Whatever Trump's foibles, their alienation of his millions of supporters guaranteed that they are done as a party. They don't represent me.
I am not convinced this is over. Everyone from the voter to the vote counters to the state officials and legislators and on to the state and federal courts and finally Pence...they all got a chance to do the right thing. Other than the voters they all seem to have failed. Perhaps it is Trump that will cross the Rubicon and leave the rest shamed.
AG Barr, like the rest of the Washington Establishment, is concerned about life after DJT. It's as easy for him to throw DJT under rhe streetcar as it is for anybody else looking to preserve their premium salaries, benefits and perks. It's part of the reason we're in this mess.
What people don't get is that the crowd includes a lot of ex-Leftists who are as fed up as the rest of us who don't buy in to the sports team politics and the false binaries. One eyewitness comments quite frankly: https://youtu.be/dPv0gEW9kVU I'd state the case a bit differently, but I think her assessment is largely accurate. Trump's greatest failure - and it was a doozy - was hiring RINOs from the swamp to work for him. Almost without fail, the people he hired from business worked out, while the "good government" GOOGOOs betrayed him and worked counter to his, or the USA's, best interests. Sessions. Barr. Durham.
I'm about ready to write off the Republican party as the "Democrap-Lite" party. Some years back, I was an independent IT guy; for a nominal fee, I would install software on your PC and teach you how to use it. One of my customers was an old retired Soviet Army guy, a Jew (as am I) who brought his family to the US. He would occasionally talk about how the country that he served was gone. I'm a retired Navy guy. I now know how he felt. It was a good run. USA, 1776-2021. RIP. IMHO Trump has never been wrong. He was not a swamp dweller and that is his only failing. Those who are abandoning him are not "wrong". They want to stay in the swamp after Trump is gone. They are protecting themselves. Others have eagerly shown their true colors and are not simply protecting their future. They never liked Trump primarily because he wanted to drain the swamp that has or will make them millionaires. If you cannot recognize these two "legitimate" reasons for them throwing Trump under the bus then you are not paying attention.
Trump did not cause the violence, he didn't tell, urge, hint or dogwhistle his supporters into violence. He literally did nothing wrong while at the same time most of congress was intent on doing wrong. At the very least congress should have demanded and investigation of ALL the election fraud by a special prosecutor with the power to charge and prosecute anyone who participated in this farce. THAT the Republicans failed to do this will go down in history to explain why they will never again hold power in congress or POTUS. Two incredible things came out of this debacle; 1. Democrats have used the word constitutional in full sentences for the first time in their careers. 2. Just like THAT the Democrats have decided the police are a good thing. Most people still don't get it. some 80 million people/citizens/voters are pissed and congress and the talking heads have in the last 24 hours made them all even more pissed off. Yes, the Dems got away with stealing the election perhaps stealing congress too but they are to blatant and too stupid to see the damage they have done. We are now, more than ever before, a divided country. Do you think the bloodshed has ended when the capitol police shot that unarmed woman??? Au contraire mon frere. They have fired the first and most unnecessary shot but it is just the beginning. Every congress critter flies home every few days and they live in nice neighborhoods. When the left begins their taking of our rights and our assets do you think everyone will roll over? They won't storm the Bastille again now it will be Guerrilla war. They don't get it!!! These were normal middle class folks who have never broken the law in their lives and they rallied in the 100's of thousands at a time when that was incredibly difficult and our government learned NOTHING!!! Bill Barr is a sanctimonious, self satisfied f**k! Always has been and always will be the arrogant prick that condescends to everyone. Here’s wishing him and his close friend Mueller cursed futures.
Roaches scurrying away from the light. Let them flee. Cowards.
The election was stolen The evidence piles up;
https://noqreport.com/2021/01/06/global-defense-contractor-it-expert-testifies-in-italian-court-he-and-others-switched-votes-in-the-u-s-presidential-race/ The bed-wetting over yesterday is weapons grade cringe.
A leftist literally tried to massacre multiple Republican Congressmen and the news cycle moved on from it within 24 hours. Leftists burned American cities for 6 months straight and the media pretended it didn't happen. Trump has gone off his rails? Really?
Or is that the "elites" that have gone off their rails? Seems to be the later to me. For the go to perspective on this read John Hinderaker at Powerline, he's spelled out the details most clearly:
Enough With The Outrage Kowtowing and appeasement are unbecoming, and completely lacking in any sort of leadership. Weakest post I have ever seen on Maggie's Farm... Truly...
It's really gone a bit downhill lately, tbh. In the direction of milquetoast pearl-clutching.
The people fleeing their positions are cowards simply trying to secure a future spot in the bureaucracy. There is no honor in what they are doing.
What happened yesterday is 100% a direct result of the actions (inaction) of Democrats and their socialist allies over the past few years. Their people have openly called for assasination of police, attacked innocent civilians, attacked federal office holders, burned buildings, destroyed private property, and called for the literal destruction of this nation. The Democrats said nothing every time. They condone violence as a means to political ends and now they pretend to care because they can gain ground with it. Yesterday's rioters are now being called Republicans, as if Q Anon clowns have ever participated in our processes until Trump came along. It's disgusting. What makes it even worse are the Republicans who backed down out of fear or cowardice. The pile of BS grows as litle people attack the giant once he is down.
There is no question that countless people since Jesus Christ has endured more than Trump has in the past four years. It is a certainty that none of his critics have. Sent a message this evening throught the WH comm center. I would like to think he will see, although I doubt it. I thanked him for all that he has done for the country. I suggested that he consider immigrating to Israel where they have every reason to welcome him. Told him I would, if I could. Alas. I am stuck in a country I served for 25 years and no longer recognize. Well, now the long knives are out. And, the phonies are covering their assess for the next round. "Everyone" "Now" sees what a horrible person Trump is. You are all disgusting hypocrites, and you know who I am addressing.
Amen
If you are from Chicago, this will sound familiar to you. My Dad died 25 years ago and retired 45 years ago. You can imagine my sister's surprise when, 3 weeks ago, she received a letter from the Illinois Division of Employment Security addressed to my Dad declining his application for unemployment coverage. A few days later an IDES debit card arrived which had already been used to dispense $17,500. Yes, my sister recognized this as fraud and reported it to local, state, and federal authorities. Based on this anecdote, you can understand how the funding runs out so quickly. Don't know much about fraud so we are assuming that this is 1) an inside job, 2) a variant of the old ghost/phantom payroll con. Feel free to offer alternate theories. Sorry, this was meant to post as a reply to LibDis's comment #15
Ahh, yes, AG Barr, another one of the Washington anchor-draggers concerned with life after DJT. He lost his credibilty wih me several months ago. I wonder what the Establishment have on him. That, after all, was their problem with DJT: he was independent enough that they couldn't play their game of mutual manipulation on him. Barr clearly doesn't want to risk the elite-package of salary, benefits, perks and other rewards they tell the rest of us we can't afford.
There was a joke that circulated among my Episcopalian friends during the first half of the Prayer Book Wars, “How many Episcopalians does it take to change a light bulb? A small committee to screw up the bulb, a small group of supporters to hold the ladder, and the rest to talk about how great the old one was.” The situation in which we now find ourselves appears to be oddly familiar: it's seemingly far easier to kvetch about how bad things are than it is to risk trying to stop it. Of course that's always come back to bite them. What's different this time is that nobody seems to realise who Trump supporters really are. They assume they can continue to spin it so that the collectives we've been dealt into will continue to be divided against each other. It should be an easy thing to convince us that riots are peaceful protests that intensified, while an assembly of citizens insisting on their right to be heard by their representatives is an assault on democracy: we just have to put the agitators in the right place and selectively edit the facts and the video. Unfortunately, this doesn't take into account the phenomenon that a growing segment of the populace are beginning to realise they have far more in common than that which may [be said to] divide them. That's not going away. One eyewitness put it in very plain language: https://youtu.be/dPv0gEW9kVU I'd have stated it differenly, but her case is substantially a valid one. So now we're faced with being subject to a government by three failed cities in the hand of a party at war with themselves. This current plague will prove to be the least of our worries, and in the meantime we can get back to the political theatrics and other games we find so comforting. There'll be a hot time in the old town tonight. Both Paul Craig Roberts and the guys at Off Guardian have interesting views on yesterday's events, "Trump goes off the rails" is depressingly childish.
https://off-guardian.org/2021/01/07/the-storming-of-the-capitol-americas-reichstag-fire/ https://www.unz.com/proberts/americas-color-revolution-2/ So, all those people claiming Trump fooled them, that ain't gonna look good on your job applications.
