Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

From Paul Mirengoff at PowerLine. His source correctly predicted Trump's narrow loss in Georgia
UPDATE: My Georgia source just sent me this report: Loeffler is going to lose. Perdue’s camp thinks there is too much vote out in Dekalb and Fulton for him to hang on as well, but he’s the only one with a realist chance. Welcome to 1856. re Warnock defeats Loeffler in Georgia Senate runoff
from a friend in Georgia: What a "surprise", the Atlanta dump came as expected and they "won". Our Governor and SOS should resign in disgrace. Yesterday our rep Buddy Carter - R alluded to a backroom deal between SOS Raffensberger and the Demonic Stacy Abrams. Some kind of deal was cut to facilitate the Democrats winning in GA. Why? Maybe Kemp and Raffensberger got caught cheating too, who knows? Representative Carter said that he brought this to the attention of state authorities last March. 'Seen this movie before': Georgia runoff follows familiar script of vote dumps and stopped counts
https://www.bizpacreview.com/2021/01/06/seen-this-movie-before-georgia-runoff-follows-familiar-script-of-vote-dumps-and-stopped-counts-1012970/ Another stolen election last night. Dems wait until very late in the night when they know the vote tallies and then amazingly find 50,000 ballots in Atlanta.
Welcome to the UNITED SOCIALIST STATES of AMERICA. One party rule within two years. I’m not ready to give up yet! I don’t know what we should do but I know it doesn’t involve voting.
Re: Urban Politics
I just read a funny news story about the girl who tackled a black guy at a hotel, because she thought that he had stolen her phone. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9117085/NYPD-detectives-fly-California-interview-SoHo-Karen-Miya-Ponsetto-attack-black-boy.html The event itself isn't very interesting; as it turns out the girl was a crazy alcoholic who had been getting into trouble for years. So nobody was surprised. And the "violence" of being tackled by a hundred pound girl was so minimal that she hasn't even been charged with a crime. Yes, they should charge her with assault, so that she can be forced to attend counseling. But the important part of the story is how the black "victim" of this heinous crime now claims that he experienced psychological trauma. So he and he and his Mother Kat Rodriguez are now in the process of choosing a trauma therapist for their son following the attack. If a black person attacks a white person, nobody talks about trauma. But if a white person attacks a black person, then a moral crime has been committed. It's a double standard which blacks take advantage of, in order to obtain victim status. Blacks just want to be aggrieved victims; that's their only goal in life. Re: Shut up, Donald
DJT was right about one thing: we sure got sick of winning. We didn’t get sick of winning, the left got sick of his (our) winning.
Not you, perhaps. Certainly not me: it's the first time I've seen a President do his job in my adult lifetime.
But it is certainly the case with respect to what I've been reading on Gateway and Powerline, to name only two, since last February. It's certainly the case with respect to Mitch and the Gang, dragging anchor on everything with the possible exception of judicial appointments. It's certainly the case with respect to their doubts about holding the Senate, which they've repeatedly expressed for two years. It strikes me they've been far more concerned with comfortably surviving life after DJT, as opposed to truly excising the rot. They've succeeded in neither, and have been sent packing. This may be a good thing. It's becoming increasingly untenable to persist in the assertion that it is Democrats vs. Republicans, Left vs. Right. Rather, it is the Establishment vs. the populace, the government vs. the people. We no longer have to kid ouselves abou being sandbagged by our so-called friends. It is a fact that all not Republicans are on our side. More and more it seems that most politicians are not on our side.
I quite agree, especially with your second statement. I did policy-level work.for over two decades, and can think of a good many egregious examples.
A couple of weeks ago, my wife commented, "The Republicans need to grow a spine." She was the one who convinced, many years ago, to give up the ego trip of being a GDI, and join the Republicans. Today's conversations have been interesting, in that she is now more out of patience with them than I am. As Harry Belafonte once chided a member of his pit band, "Never turn your back on the masses, man! Because if you do, and they catch up with you, they'll trample you to death." I wonder if he remembers having said that.

Well the RINOs got their deal - the Democratic Party agreed to eat them last if they just stood by and let the Trump vote be undefended in the post-election period.
I guess they didn't comprehend that "Last = Next" in the new dictionary. The next two years should be really fun. Going forward, if you want to make a difference in the direction of your country, it won't be by voting. So The Donald should shut up because reasons, and we get a dose of Allahpundit's particular brand of panic porn with the obligatory anti Trump chaser. Nothing like joint hot cup of cowering and surrender monkeying to kick off the day!
Thank you.
I am beginning to question my sanity when so many are saying, "It's ok, they cheated well so let's all just accept it, along with their violence and theft." re THE WAR ON STANDARDS, WEST POINT CHEATING EDITION
Red State had this a couple of days ago: West Point, Soon to Be Yet Another Casualty of the Left’s Long March. QUOTE: 1. Why was the honesty policy suspended? Simple. It was a casualty long determined by decisions made back in 1976 to water down and ultimately eliminate moral standards at the Academy, much like is happening in Scouting and the Churches. 2. Why admit candidates who cannot pass Calculus? Partially to improve the football program, but mainly to finally divorce West Point from its engineering roots and complete its transformation into a vehicle for leftist objectives (social justice?) until finally (here’s the deft finesse part)… 3. Why would/should the public pay (such a huge price) for all of this? Exactly so. That’s the question the leftists want to force. If West Point (along with USNA & USAFA) become nothing more than “studies” degree generating institutions, then the public will rightly gripe about paying 2 or 3 times as much per commissioned officer generated, than say ROTC or OCS. How long after such a transformation plays out, will public outcry demand the Academies be closed and those funds put to better use? “Better” being, “social justice.” The left then gets a twofer. It irreparably damages critical underpinnings of our Military, which in turn is also damaged. Best of all for the left, tax dollars will be diverted to more vote-buying, feel-good programs. https://redstate.com/darth641/2021/01/02/opinion-west-point-soon-to-be-yet-another-casualty-of-the-lefts-long-march-part-i-n303092 Everyone that goes to West Point is selected because of who they know. You or your children cannot go there unless you know a congressman or know someone who knows a congressman. They do not select candidates based on ability or intelligence. While some of those new West Point students 'may' be qualified most are merely there because their parents bought their way in. The single biggest factor that will assure that you can go to West Point today is being a person of color and NOT being a person of intelligence.
' shut up, Donald'
No Donald. Don't shut up. Ever. The theft of this election was so blatant and what we' re going to get will be so disastrous that he (and we) must fight every step to the very end. If you think Donald should just shut up and roll over you are part of the problem. Wholeheartedly agree. My daughter and three of her friends flew to DC from FL to participate in supporting the President. Please pray for their safety.
Hopefully, you've advised them to act like it is the 1980s and be out of the city before the end of the evening twilight. Cities are not safe places to be on the street or in the parks after dark...again.
Yes. I lived in the DC area for ~30 years. Gave them the scoop.
Re: the vaccine already being obsolete.
Don't trust people who write out of their ignorance. The current vaccines have not been to confer immunity. They are documented to have 95% efficacy in preventing "symptomatic" Covid. Allahpundit does at least know the vaccines present the spiked protein of SARS 2.0 to stimulate the immune system. The major problem we have is so many idiots with blogs who write out of ignorance. This just exacerbates the problem of traditional journalists being ignorant of the topic about which they write. QUOTE: The TZ analogy didn’t really work in that case because scientists believe that the current vaccines will provide solid immunity from the UK variant. Maybe not 95 percent, as it does against the most common version of coronavirus, but still enough to end the pandemic if we vaccinate enough people. Why is it Trump should shut up? Why is it that the republicans always need to shut up? And they are told this, mostly, from the so called right - their fellow republicans. I’ve been hearing this since I was old enough to understand politics. They told Reagan to shut up. Won’t you just shut up about those communists. How dare you go to Brandenburg Gate and stir up trouble. Won’t you conservatives just shut up about the social issues? Don’t you know how off putting it is? We’re trying to win elections. Don’t rock the boat. Just shut up!
I don’t think your shut up strategy is working. Re: Walmart opening more clinics. I'm pretty sure the state Certificate of Need programs that allow monopoly doctoring may have something to say about that, you can't just go around opening up a clinic like it was a grocery store or a gas station or a plumbing company. Some things are too important to be left to the free market, that's why you buy your bread at the government-run bread store.
Every stinking grocery store in our area has a 'clinic'. Sure, it isn't part of the store itself, it is 'ready' clinic or some other rip-off organization that can give you a jab or send you to an ER, but they are there... You don't think that Walmart could bull through a special bill to set up clinics in their rag-tag chineeezzee emporiums??
Who Gets to Tell the Story of 2020? The lying media are the worst historians. AND...that's because they are liars.
Mr. Mayor Makes a Much-Deserved Mockery of Urban Politics: I have given up on TV network news and entertainment. I just don't care. Radical Democrats Are Turning Minneapolis Into A Violent Wasteland: Not ARE; HAVE! (No more "Minnesota Nice") The Biden border surge comes early: I trust NOTHING printed by the WaPoo. China calls Biden administration ‘a new window of hope’ for US relations: Of COURSE it does; Joe will gladly and happily roll over for China. British Carrier Strike Group declared operational: Good on ya, Brits! It's like watching the last and deciding World Series Game where the team that no one really thought should have even been there is cheating badly and openly and what's worse is the Umpires are calling the calls in the cheating teams favor. We can all see it. We are watching massive cheating and the people who should call it out and stop it are eagerly and openly participating. But the sports casters are telling us that what we are seeing is not really what happened and the honest/losing team just needs to buck up and accept it. It's all over now, the cheating team has won. They get their rings and trophy and don't you dare point out the massive cheating.
The first time the majority of a group of law students flunked the "ethics" portion of the bar exam occurred in 1972-1974. California bar exam of course. Since then we have not had a legal community that intended to uphold the law according to agreed upon system of ethics. In fact we have had the basis for the ideals --the10 commandments-- removed from most court houses, law schools, etc. There are no guidelines for ethical or moral standards for attorneys and judges. Therefore, why is anyone at MF surprised to find that every judge and every attorney involved in this mess will first ask the question: "what's in it for me"? Always, always look closely at the advantages/disadvantages available to the individual players in the legal profession.
