Regarding the Smithsonian chart, it reads like "I've never met a white person, but I've seen them on TV."

It reminds me of Archie Bunker, in a way. The character, at least in the early years, was a portrayal not of a working class conservative, but what a much of old-line leftists thought a working-class conservative would be like if they actually met one.(Just like Mike was a portrayal of what they thought a young liberal was like.)

Pave over the fault and write "Black Lives Matter" on it. It seems to solve all other problems, as demonstrated by the priority of its usage over all other remedies by mayors across the country.

"National Museum of African American History & Culture wants to make you aware of certain signs of whiteness: Individualism, hard work, objectivity, the nuclear family, progress, respect for authority, delayed gratification, more. " If I were a POC, I'd be outraged and other times I wonder if maybe it is genetic and we are Aesop's ants. My forebears were from the great white north for thousands of years where Darwin's remorseless imperatives intervened if you failed to conserve, plan and perservere.

That list of "white Privilege" is what all the Success and Positive Mental Attitude books propose for success in this world. And experience generally proves it. Those that propose destruction of society have to destroy the values that make a society. Either way, a dysfunctional society's values would have to be destroyed to cure the dysfunctional-ism. So too, with successful societies. Why does anybody wants to live in a dysfunctional society of tribalism, corruption, theft, disease? Only those that are envious of success.

Seems to be a logical extension of affirmative action admissions. Might be a good use for all that sweet, sweet full-tuition international (i.e. oil tick, PLA, drug cartel) student dough coming in.

After looking through the 'whiteness' chart, it's not even generically Caucasian. I'd pin it as behaviors and attitudes quite specific to those developed in Europe west of the Hajnal Line, north of the Alps, and east of the Pyrenees.

Knowing that what you are doing today can determine if you will have food to eat in six months focuses the mind in certain ways.

As I read the Smithsonian chart I could identify with it. It felt like every word, every point had been taught to me by my parents and my teachers (I am 77 and from a different generation of public schools). It defined my privilege exactly as I see it. That is work hard, put education first, save and plan for my future, bring my children up right including teaching them at home what the schools fail to teach and having respect for the law and authority. That is "white privilege" in a nutshell; sometimes called civilization. Embrace it and you can succeed and live a good life. Reject it and by your choices you fail.

It seems foolish for BLM to attack religious symbols. 80% of blacks and almost as many Latino Americans are Christians. Of that, there are 3 million Blacks and 30 million Latinos. This is not well understood on the left where most have no religious affiliation and imagine that the only ones who do are white fundamentalists.

On Feb. 29, the U.S. surgeon general begged people not to buy masks, saying they were “not effective in preventing general public from catching #coronavirus.” On March 8, Dr. Anthony Fauci went on “60 Minutes” and said “There’s no reason to be walking around with a mask.”

CNBC slagging Trump for suggesting scarf wearing on 1 April

There is currently little empirical evidence to back up Trump’s recommendation that a scarf or other covering can substitute for a face mask.

Doctors told CNBC that there are pros and cons to using masks, makeshift or otherwise, in public.

Neither of which mean that wearing a mask is bad but do indicate that both experts and the media have given answers to the question that appear to be motivated by things other than 'science'.

The "surgical" style mask is about 8% effective in stopping germs and virus. It's only real value is to prevent the goobers from a sneeze or cough from hitting the patient's open surgery. The M95 mask is supposedly rated to prevent 95% transmission of germs and virus BUT MUST be fitted to the face and sealed around the edges. If it isn't fitted it is closer to the 8% effectiveness of a plain cloth mask. But neither mask is effective in preventing the wearer from inhaling virus if they are in the air. It is illusory kind of like the "duck and cover" advice of the 50's in case of nuclear attack.

The reason that governors, mayors, stores and others are now requiring them is because of liability. It does not matter that they do not protect you if you as a store owner or governor do not require it and someone catches the virus then YOU are guilty of creating an unsafe environment. The ambulance chasers will come take all your money and put you into bankruptcy. Make no mistake eventually this will happen right here in the U.S. They will go after the big guys first; maybe Walmart or McDonalds but then it will trickle down on everyone. This will happen even though the masks aren't effective. The doctors and scientists who know better won't dare contradict the generally accepted belief. SO get used to wearing the masks because they will be around forever. I expect airline flights and public transportation will require them "forever" from now on.

Test your mask! Ask a friend who is a smoker to put in the mask of choice and inhale from a cigarette and with the mask on to exhale. You will see the smoke emit from around the mask, through the mask and from everywhere. Yet the smoke is 100 to 1000 times larger than a virus.

At this point the ONLY purpose of the mask is to assure vote by mail and to give the Karen's an opportunity to be all that they can be.

Did anyone else notice the American flag is backwards on the Smithsonian pamphlet?

GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR DISPLAYING THE FLAG:
When the flag is hung vertically on a wall, window, or door, the Union (blue section) should be to the observer’s left. When the flag is hung either horizontally or vertically against a wall, the Union should be to the observer’s left.

You would think that a venerable institution, such as the Smithsonian would know such a thing.

My local grocery store sponsors a charity that gives a free lunch to people in need. They give some of their own money/food and they encourage donations from shoppers. A good deed and a community minded company. But I live near the building where the free lunch is served and the reality is a little different from what is claimed. Most participants drive there. That means they have a car, buy gas, pay for insurance and of course repairs from time to time. Some of the cars are worth thousands not just clunkers. Many of them show up early and sit outside having a cigarette. At $6 a pack they can afford to smoke but can drive their car to get a free lunch made possible by donations from people who work to pay for their own food. Looking at the freeloaders it would appear that they enjoy a drink from time to time, as in every day for most of the day, but they can't afford a couple of dollars to buy something to eat.

This is more or less what all Welfare/charity in this country amounts to; i.e. paying for the food and housing of poor people so that they can smoke/drink/do drugs and not work.

That applies to the free school lunches too. A friend of mine is a school lunch cook. She is still working, cooking free lunches for students over the Summer. The school bus drivers take the lunches to the bus stops at a specific time and mom. dad or the kid picks up the lunch. The driver only waits about 5-10 minutes at each stop so this might be the only time in their lives that the kids are on time for something. I see this right in my neighborhood. I live in a middle class neighborhood, the homes aren't cheap but far less expensive than the nice part of town. Almost all the homes are owner occupied. Almost all of the homeowners have nice cars and jobs, many have boats and trailers parked in the driveway too. But yet the city/county/state pays cooks to cook the food, bus drivers to drive it to the stops and god knows who else to get $3 worth of food to the child for lunch. When this is discussed by politicians or others in authority the implication is that the kids would starve to death if the taxpayer didn't pay for this. But it's pure bull shit. I even know some of these people will look at the food delivered to them and if it isn't what they want that day they just toss it in the garbage. And on the TV they are telling us that we are feeding the "hungry" children. Bull shit.

Prove me wrong.

Lived in San Francisco for a while. Used to see a brand new Cadillac pull up around the corner from the free food handout. Once or twice a week 50 year old Chinese man driving brand new Cadillac, pulled up to the curb where they could not be seen and let out a little old Chinese lady--she must have been 85 if she was a day. Walking on a cane with badly formed feet she would go around the corner, go inside, get her grocery bag of free food and come back out. By this time sonny boy had driven around the block and was just in front of the building close to the door, but not in front. This was so his elderly needy mommy didn't have to carry the damn heavy bag of free groceries too far!!

I always have this reaction when I see "homeless" people covered in tattoos begging for money. They can spend hundreds of dollars to graffiti their bodies but then claim they have no money for food.

I was watching a video on Youtube "How poor people survive in the USA". A very sympathetic video showing poor people down on their luck. But at 12.42 they show a single working mom being evicted. The tears and sympathy is heavy for this poor mom. But notice her car, a Accura MDX, cost about $50K. I grew up poor and my dad never had a $50,000 car. In fact I doubt he ever spent more than $50 for a car. I would bet that not only is this a "working" mom but also a welfare mom getting a lot of your taxpayer money. More than likely her rent is subsidized too and she simply didn't pay the very small payment to keep her rental because she was spending it all on her car. This is the truth about the "poor" in America.

Doesn't the Smithsonian realize that Museums are a western value? No other society/culture creates and funds museums as an appreciation of their past. Most do not care about the past and certainly do not protect its artifacts.

In an ironic twist it is easy for a "black" student but almost impossible for a native American. The accept your word if you claim to be black. If you are an Indian though you must be on a tribal register. My father in law was an Indian born on a reservation my children are 1/4 Indian but it means nothing because they don't have a tribal registration to prove it.
