We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
"One miracle: nobody blamed the US yet."
Well great... you jinxed it now.
Seriously, I am amazed that that hasn't happened yet. And all this from a guy who swore to abide by results. Typical moonbat - everybody must abide by the rules, until things don't go their way. Then none of the rules apply to them. Sound like my 5 year old.
I wonder if Ned "Lament" will throw a hissy fit like this if Joe wins?
For a long time, Fair Tax was a very bi-partisan effort. Only recently have some Democratic candidates used it as a wedge against their opponents.
Also, that article is a little bit off. The third paragraph, about the rebate, gets it right, but the second paragraph implies that some neccessities are tax free. Really, everyone gets the rebate, which means if a poor family wants to blow their money on a boat, they can. Fair Tax is neutral on how you spend your money.
There's a huge grassroots behind it. If you're interested, visit fairtax.org and see if you can find a local group. Most of us are more than willing to talk your ear off about how great a plan it is.
John Bolton stated the problem clearly
when he said recently at the UN(paraphrased):
"how do you ,in good conscience,
negotiate a "cease-fire"
with a group that admits to practicing terror"?
Yassir Arafat was also a practioner of "Hudna",
agreeing to the Oslo Acords while preparing and planning the Intifada.
hence, the argument on the part of many Israelis, for years, that they "had no partner for peace"...one could put it down to recalcitrant and ancient enemies,
except the PLO,the current PA Authority,et al
STILL refuse to acknowledge Israel's right to exist...
Israel made efforts to reach compromise....and gotten bitten each time...Hudna in action.
Mohammad agreed to treaties with his enemies in the Arabian Pennisula, only to "go back on his word"
when he had achieved sufficient troop strength.
"not worth the paper it was written on"...
...is the operative phrase.
