Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

What else would anyone expect from the heretical homosexual Communist Bergoglio???
INGESTED virus would likely be killed by stomach acid long before that shot of whiskey.
Better safe than sorry. Kill it with fire(water).
But if it saves one life! Isn't that the criteria now?
Drink up. Not int my family. Wish very much to be around a lot longer to see the grandbrats grow up. But if the trade-off is their well-being vs my outliving this virus, I'll go.
South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem respects individual rights. Hurrah! We are responsible adults.
Unlike my governor Evers, WI, who wants mail in voting fraud and shut down the state. Unemployment numbers show Governor Evers thinks 300,000 Wisconsin citizens are unnecessary. Remember that next election. UW-Madison editorial calls to 'decolonize' 'eurocentric, whitewashed, sexist' curriculum: RIGHT!! Go for the AFRICA curriculum!!
Kissinger’s Call for a New World Order: Nope. No Way. Don't trust him. EU Court Of Justice Rules Poland, Hungary, & Czech Republic Broke EU Law: Stay STRONG, Poland, Hungary, and Czech Republic! The new world order brought the export of good jobs and the export of US males to be the policeman of the world. Export Kissinger along with the illegals.
Let me first state that I don’t believe in man made climate change. The weather on the planet changes, that is a fact. It use to be much warmer. I also believe that we are called upon by God to take care of His creation. There is absolutely an abundance of evidence, that we, as a species, have fallen down on the job as curators numerous times. We are lucky that nature, God’s creation, is resilient.
All that being said, Pope Francis is not my favorite Pope, but a careful examination of what was asked, and his response reveals that the Pope didn’t link the Wuhan flu to climate change. Here is the actual question that was asked of the Pope: QUOTE: I [the interviewer] was curious to know if the pope saw the [coronavirus] crisis and the economic devastation it is wreaking as a chance for an ecological conversion, for reassessing priorities and lifestyles. I asked him concretely whether it was possible that we might see in the future an economy that—to use his words—was more “human” and less “liquid.” If you fallow the links, from Magies to Pirate Coves to the New York Post, there will be no mention of the exact question. Interesting that. Fill free to beat up on me or the Pope, but at least do it honestly. The Pope believes we should be better at taking care of God’s creation. I do too. The problem is the Pope was/is a far left socialist/communist. That he does some good things is laudable just as Hitler made the trains run on time. The problem that the pope presents is mostly to Catholics and Catholicism. BUT any criticism of what the pope does or says is viewed by Catholics as an attack on Catholicism so they knee jerk to protect instead of recognizing that it is they who are at risk and not those outside of Catholicism who are merely pointing out the obvious. I suspect the knee jerk response to what I just said would be to attack me as an outsider and how dare I stick my nose into the business of Catholics. Well turn that around and apply that criticism to the pope...
QUOTE: "In a new study published for the CDC's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, researchers found that the majority of those hospitalized due to COVID-19 have preexisting conditions—about 90% of patients, or nearly all, had one or more underlying conditions. The most common, per the CDC, include hypertension (49.7%), obesity (48.3%), chronic lung disease (34.6%), diabetes mellitus (28.3%), and cardiovascular disease (27.8%)." https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/mm6915e3.htm If these risk factors are identified, why are we not focusing on sequestering this part of the population, rather than everyone? It's understandable that you would ask this, but it is not as straight forward as you'd think. Assuming 250 million adults, millions of Americans have 1 or more comorbidities. 27% (68M) have hypertension, 12% (30M) have diabetes, 3% (6.5M) have heart failure, 33% (83M) have cardiovascular disease, 6% (16M) have COPD, 28% (70M) are obese, 20%+ are over 65. Now, we know there is a lot of overlap in these numbers but you get the picture; its a lot of people. That said I find 16-17 M unemployed terrifying and we do need a more targeted and down to earth solution.
The government believes one size fits all...except for their loving embrace of affirmative action quotas.
One of the problems is that the majority of the American adult population probably has "underlying conditions".
Media last month:
The Science is Settled! The Models must not be questioned! You're a Climate Holocaust Denier! But the Models are just inherently flawed predictions, and every prediction of the future that they've ever made has been badly wrong. What's the deal?? Silence! The Science is Settled! Denier! Media this month: On My God! These Models haven’t been exact! Oh My God!! They’ve changed their predictions! Agghh We’re Doomed! But the Models are just inherently flawed predictive tools based originally on incomplete data (thanks a million, China). Now with better data we refine them daily, and the predictions are much more encouraging. Plus, far fewer people are actually dying and that’s a good thing. Now we can move forward. What’s the deal?? Silence! Trump's Models are wrong! We’re doomed! Carville's statement that the Republicans will kill to stay in power is telegraphing exactly what the Democrats have been and will be doing.
The Left always accuses the Right of what the Left themselves do and intend to do. This is a VERY dangerous sign of trouble ahead. re Gov of S. Dakota:
Certainly the right attitude for a Governor to have. (BTW the link connects to the wrong story.) I saw this several days ago and my impression was that SD was not to be shut down. If that is indeed the case it will be interesting to see how the Coronavirus affects South Dakota compared to other states. If she wants to run for POTUS she has my attention. https://www.dailywire.com/news/watch-gop-gov-i-will-not-shut-down-my-state-following-herd-mentality-not-leadership |
