We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Anti-Americanism is often a knee-jerk reaction among the usual ideologues here in Canada. I generally annoy them by saying:

If we had an education system, that wasn't communist themselves, and an honest media, these democrats wouldn't even be on the ticket. Communism should scare the hell out of everyone. Do you want to be a slave? Vote democrat. Of course, as we have learned, not all republicans believe in freedom. So be careful who you vote for.

I don't think that's possible, really. Even if it does so temporarily, Bloomberg will soon prove otherwise. His arrogance is such that he can't suppress it for long.

Europe is a continent, not a country. And the EU is not a nation state. Nor is the EU Europe. You don't have to be in the EU to be a European. No one would claim the Swiss or the Norwegians aren't Europeans; no one should claim the British are somehow not Europeans either.

Oh, and by the way: Russia is just as much apart of Europe as France or Germany; it always has been.

Just googled it and you're correct. Russia spans both continents, it makes up 40% of Europe, but 77% of its landmass is in Asia.

Don't misunderstand what happened at the debate. A handful of losers took pot shots at the likely winner. Bloomberg looked weak but Bloomberg is not in this to wind the first vote. He expects a brokered convention with Bernie the leading candidate. The DNC doesn't want Bernie BUT there is something the DNC desperately needs and that is money. Bloomberg not only has dump trucks full of money to give away but he is something else that the DNC needs too: He isn't Bernie. Biden will go with a wimper. Fauxcohontas will go kicking and screaming. Butigieg will fade and when the dust settles Bloomberg will be standing there with a handful of hundreds and the best chance to win.

IMHO Bloomberg didn't expect a circular firing squad trying to commit murder suicide. But now that he took fire watch for "anonymous" exposures of some really bad stuff by some of the other candidates. It's going to get nasty.
