Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

This is not rocket science.
The Turks are just doing what every sovereign state does: putting their own national interests first. Re Dem panic over Durham and Ukraine.
Charlie Martin at PJ Media and Ace at AOSHQ have both advanced the theory, based on different pieces of evidence, that 'Whistleblower 2' is probably in fact 'Whistleblower 0' i.e. the source that the 'Whistleblower 1' got his info from, and likely a spook formerly on Biden's national security staff based on the freak-out over the Ukraine investigating CrowdStrike's 2016 shenanigans and Burisma. There are no impeachment proceedings going on. What is going on is just a Trump smear campaign called by another name. A real impeachment investigation requires a majority vote in Congress which they could do very easily. The question should be 'Why don't they hold a vote?" Of course, they can't hold a vote because a vote would also give Trump rights that their current charade denies him. Their "Suponeas" are not subpoenas at all, more like the4 fake traffic cams tickets, and have no legal basis.
Even if the House voted to Impeach they'd have to drum up a constitutional reason which they haven't done so far. Then they would have to get the Senate to convict. Any Republican Senator and probably some Democrats who voted to convict would see that as the end of their political career. Every one of the fake "Impeachment" stories you headline just helps the Democrats out. Please call it " A smear campaign" instead. As usual, California's political electric policy will have just the opposite effect from what they want. At some price point, people will start buying large diesel generators and making their own power creating more pollution and fire threats.
I see Gov Newsom is good with cutting electricity to the peasants.
One wonders if he realizes how much tax revenue the state loses due to a power outage of this magnitude? One also wonders if this becomes common practice, how many more businesses will leave in frustration and disgust? Finally, one wonders how much revenue PG&E loses? Will rates have to hiked to compensate for revenue losses if it becomes common practice to turn the power off to large swaths of population like this? "The Lights Are Out in California"
Wait! Wasn't it a great idea to sue PG&E for $80 billion??? Who could have possibly foreseen that if you sue a power company for allowing their power lines to remain powered during high winds that the only possible choice that the power company would have is to turn the power off during these seasonal high winds. This is another example of the class action laws working against the interests of citizens but extremely favorable to a few lawyers. Buck up California, this is what you asked for. You are quite right OneGuy
The California legislature could pass laws protecting PG&E . . . if they wanted to. Apparently they prefer this scenario to having uninterrupted electricity supplied to the peons. One wonders how long the voters will put up with it? No kidding. They call it a high-wind measure, but I call it a high-lawsuit measure.
Q: What did socialists Californians use before candles? A: Electricity.
Bill Nye the Science Fraud would really love to see you rotting in prison.
Interviewer: "What's your thought on jailing skeptics as war criminals?" Bill Nye: "We'll see what happens. Was it appropriate to jail the guys from Enron?" Interviewer: "Interesting." Bill Nye: "Ok. Right. So we'll see what happens." Wait a minute! "Was it appropriate to jail the guys from Enron?" If I remember correctly that was a case of prosecutorial excess and misconduct. Enron had pissed off influential people and they did some things that were atypical in their business. But more laws were broken by the prosecutors than by Enron execs.
You couldn't be suggesting the Andy Weissman overstepped his bounds prosecuting Enron execs as he continues to do with "anything Trump"? He deserves to be left in a cell, handcuffed and stripped naked, with Sidney Powell and all the employees at Arthur Anderson whose company he destroyed. Talk about a weaponized judicial system!
Darned Trump. He should immediately bomb Turkey, murder Erdogon, then stand on the deck of an aircraft carrier with a banner Mission Accomplished in the background and give an interview on CBS gleefully exclaiming We came. We saw. He died.
The sign your referring to was for the carrier task group
Completeing its mission not the whole invasion The misguided M S M got the whole thing wrong as usual Kamala Harris Promises 6 months of paid financial leave.
How do you run a business with that? Simple, quietly get rid of women of child bearing age and don't hire any more of them. re Hillary tried to protect Weinstein
Does she have a thing for bad boys? She has a thing for people that will support her and give her money. Ilhan Omar with her perfectly fitted hijab and pious attitutde combined with her two husbands and a boyfriend - not to mention the allegations of immigration, tax, and campaign finance fraud - reminds me of Julia in 1984.
"As long as you obey the little rules, you can break the big ones." re Turkey Begins Assault on Kurds as Trump Defends Withdrawal
Wretch at BC has a good piece on the Turkish invasion. Turkey is no juggernaut. QUOTE: Although the operation is primarily seen as a threat to the Kurds it also poses considerable risks to Erdogan. "Turkey’s intervention in northern Syria inspired domestic support for the country’s armed forces, but also skepticism, fear and anger in a politically divided country that perceives it has already suffered greatly because of the continuing eight-year conflict to its southeast. But the president’s Syria policies have also begun to badly hurt him and his allies politically, as economic troubles exacerbate long-simmering Turkish animosity towards Arabic-speaking Syrians." In other words Syria risks becoming Erdogan's Vietnam. The Independent writes: Turkey is already fighting a guerilla war against the separatist Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in its own southeast provinces. Expanding the ground war into Syria against the PKK’s allies risks sparking a separate insurgency. The Syrian Democratic Forces, the collection of Kurdish-led armed groups partnered with the US in its fight against Isis, said it was “determined to defend our land at all costs” against Turkey. “What makes Turkey think they’re not going to get caught in northern Syria fighting a protracted campaign?” said Steven Cook, a Turkey and Middle East specialist at the Council on Foreign Relations. ... “They’re really exposed going deeper into Syrian territory,” said Mr Cook. “And they’re not going to get any help. If Erdogan gets into trouble, the cavalry is not coming to the rescue.” https://pjmedia.com/richardfernandez/the-turkish-offensive/ The Russians will keep Erdogan in check as it is in Russians interest to keep Erdogan's dream of a new Caliphate as nothing more than a dream. There is also considerable dissention in Turkey that opposes his moves to a more radicalized Islam.
The lights are out in California, the power is being diverted to maintain the burner under the slowly-heating pot of frogs. Once you get used to the intermittent power supply, you'll find you can get used to the intermittent food supply, the intermittent water supply, the intermittent public services supply and the intermittent civil rights supply and the intermittent freedom. And as the outage periods begin to outlast the availability periods, you'll get used to your new life as a medieval serf.
Turkey is not a NATO Ally; and never will be. This just goes to show what a joke NATO has become. Whom exactly are they protecting us from? The answer is "Nobody." NATO is a huge waste of money. Millions of troops who do nothing, trillions of dollars in useless equipment, and Military Commanders whose only job is to create imaginary enemies; so that the ongoing waste of money can be justified. Do you want to to what NATO really is? An easy job, a good pension, and lots of toys to play with.
What's even worse is that NATO considers itself to be a political organization. So they use the money that we give them to create communist alliances with governments that are absolutely opposed to the system of Capitalism. According to NATO, we are now "friends" with Russia and China. We're also "friends" with Eastern Bloc countries like Ukraine. It's time to end NATO. It's a politically dangerous organization; that in no way represents the American ideals of freedom. And it costs a fortune; and produces nothing. |
