Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

So... Bill Nye the Science Fraud challenged meteorologist Joe Bastardi to a $10,000 bet - that 2016 would be hotter than previous years. (Mind you this is 4 months into 2016 already) Bastardi responded that he had ALREADY predicted a year ago that 2016 would be hotter based on El Niño patterns, not CO2 rise.
Crickets from pencil-neck Bill Nye. So Bastardi bets Bill $10,000 that 2017 would be cooler than 2016. More crickets from Q-Tip-shaped Bill Nye. I didn't find the Democratic debates terrifying, I found them reassuring. These people are all insane, which means any Democrat with a lick of sense has already accepted that Trump's going to win in 2020 and they're staying out of it. Joe Biden is the apparent nominee the same way and for the same reason Bob Dole was the [I]pro forma[/[] nominee for the GOP in 1996. The old man's done a lot for the party and it's his turn, throw him a bone and let him have a nice line for his obituary, what's it going to hurt?
Nancy Pelosi is the only Democrat with anything meaningful to say about the Democratic agenda and you notice she's not saying much about which of these whackadoodles and their whackadoodle ideas she agrees with, she's just lying back and pretending it's not happening. She knows it doesn't matter. Re The End of Western Hegemony
Macron said, Look at India, Russia and China. They have a much stronger political inspiration than Europeans today. They think about our planet with a true logic, a true philosophy, an imagination that we’ve lost a little bit. Maybe not just yet. Russia is a dying power and shouldn't even be mentioned. India is still developing and is not projecting power/culture outward. China has a myriad of internal problems. Becoming a hegemon is years, if not decades away, if it happens at all. What these countries do have is leadership that sees the world as it is. They don't live in the PC fantasy world of western leaders. Russia is steaming full on into the role of a 19th Century imperialist state.
China is trying desperately to become just like the West, minus that whole thing about human rights. India is trying, but sorely lacks military, diplomatic, or soft power to project. Unfortunately, India's key resource export is its brainpower. The media has officially lost its damn mind: Old news. Old, OLD news.
Re: bad effects of porn. Back in the 1980's before the easy access of internet porn was even dreamed of, one of my sub-specialties was working with Dangerous Sexual Offenders and assessing risk. I would have predicted at that point that greater access was going to make things worse, because I regarded porn as essentially rehearsing offenses. But one conference speaker I thought really knew his stuff was asked during the Q&A at the end "Do you think use of pornography increases the likelihood of reoffense?" He held a palm up and made a face: "Maybe. But I'd give any one of my guys a stack of magazines before I let him have a single can of beer." That made immediate sense and has stuck with me. Disinhibition is a much bigger problem. Since the advent of wide availability of porn we have seen sexual crime go down, not up. That doesn't mean cause and effect, but it at least means that porn has not made things worse, as I and others predicted.
The left is never going to let up on Kavanaugh.
They've already admitted that the game is to put an asterisk next to any of his decisions on abortion. Now they will continue to pile on the vilest accusations (each more baseless than the last, if history is any guide) and call for impeachment so that they will always be able to say that his rulings were tainted by bias "Because, my goodness, who wouldn't be biased if they were treated like that?" Future liberal justices will be able to skip right over the irritating need to refute a Kavanaugh precedent, and claim that they are free to ignore the merits of the decision, because of the possibility of bias. All of this overlooks the fact that once the "Kavanaugh treatment" becomes the default political playbook, not only is the Supreme Court's usefulness just about at an end, but there won't be enough of a civil society left for the law to preserve. Normalizing slander on the scale of the left's approach with Kavanaugh will, I predict, have irreversible corrosive effects. Ban on Eating Dogs and Cats Blocked in UK — It Might Offend Asian Migrants
I find it hilarious that the mucky muck elites that flooded the country with uncontrollable, low impulse, low IQ peoples and STILL intend to direct their behavior by "legislation". Don't they know that lawless anarchists (that worship a moon god) aren't going to play by your rules anyway? And anyway, their enclaves are impenetrable and those rules unenforcable anyway. Just like in the ghettos. They rule by dog eat dog, jungle rules. Yep. Racist, I know. But legislation only affects civil people anyway. Lol. Unless of course this WAS meant to control the indigenous white people from eating their pets when they ban eating livestock due to the green nude eel. |
