We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Utah Fly-fishing


A pal spent last week fishing the upper Green River in northern Utah, near Flaming Gorge, mostly float-fishing.  Browns, Rainbows, some Cutthroat. It's one of the US' most famous trout fisheries.


I tried to find out to what extent that fishery is stocked, but I could not find the answer.  Still, except for Lake Trout, almost all trout fisheries in the US are stocked.


He had one day of 24" snow, but otherwise good (chilly) weather and good fishing.

almost all? Montana has not stocked a stream since 1972. Might apply to the east but not the west. Your buddy fished below flaming gorge dam. Not the upper Green river that would be found in Wyoming. Otherwise everything is correct.

I just don't have the patience to fish. I love it when they're biting, but my attention span is about ten minutes.

Looks like the area below Flaming Gorge dam, IIRC. By the way, the state of Utah does stock fishing streams, reservoirs, etc.
