Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

re WaPo Fact Checked Trump’s Claim He Had Burgers “A Mile High” For Clemson Players
So now Trump is branded a dirty f*ukkin' liar if he uses a figure of speech? The pettiness and vindictiveness of this surprises even me. Walls closing in...Mueller can not end his investigation as that opens the floodgates to other investigations of the FBI itself. As long as Mueller can threaten obstruction of justice if anyone questions the guilty DOJ, FBI, or Obama staffers then he can keep the lid on the corruption. His job is to save the converged corrupted institutions of the DOJ and FBI.
Britain's first transgender family - child abuse.
Milo - welcome to America! Gun grabber grabs guns for himself - that's what gun control is: "guns for me but not for thee." Walls closing in on the FBI - it would be a great start, but only a start. Democrats who expressed support for border barrier - interesting, but my first instinct is to never trust a Democrat. Child marriage legal in Germany - more child abuse. Any person with an IQ over 80 that doesn't see through and vote out of existence these drama queens in the Democratic party deserves to pay 70% income tax, have illegal aliens taking over their houses and bank accounts, find their children becoming trangender and/or married to a Moslem at age 10, face the disruption of their life's work thanks to an FBI investigation, and have their job off-shored to that city in China where all the residents are subjected to Social Credits thanks to the help of Google's and Facebook's tracking mechanisms.
jma: deserves to pay 70% income tax
Of course, the proposal is to tax income over $10 million per year at 70%, which means if you make $10 million per year or less, you won't pay 70%. Which is irrelevant to the comment, that comment having been presented by an actual human person with real people thoughts whose intent wasn't to start you trolling for the umpteenth time.
jma: find their children becoming trangender and/or married to a Moslem at age 10
The German legal decision, which you are apparently referencing, concerns whether or not Germany would recognize marriages made in other countries, where one party was younger than eighteen. This is similar to the question of whether U.S. states will recognize marriages in other states they would not otherwise countenance. Some states have allowed marriages at fourteen or even younger, and while many states have increased their age requirements, marriages before the laws were tightened are still recognized, as are marriages in other states. This can be a complex decision, which is why the German court decided that cases should be considered individually. OK... I'll buy the "younger than 18" point. But what about younger than 13 or 9? You still onboard with that???
Anon: OK... I'll buy the "younger than 18" point. But what about younger than 13 or 9? You still onboard with that???
Let's dispense with the misleading headline. The age for marrying in Germany is eighteen. The U.S. has allowed marriages as young as 12 or 13 (and a few cases younger than that), and there are thousands who were married at age 14, generally with parental or judicial consent. These marriages should not have taken place, but once they have taken place, do you invalidate the marriage when they are now 25 and have three children? Most courts have said no, that the marriages, legal when made should be allowed to stand, unless there is evidence of coercion. Still irrelevant. See, humans have the capacity to express their core points in ways that both include all of the details they present and transcend them, that greater truth being the point of the context drawn from those points by other humans.
The fact you've made a career out of diverting one or two of those points only shows you up, Gasbot. Near as I can tell you're still trolling.

Uh, no. That is not what we said, but "These marriages should not have taken place ..." The marriage in question occurred at 14, and she was 17 when the German courts intervened. They determined that each case should be looked at individually. The article misrepresented the situation, just as you misrepresented our view.

jma: face the disruption of their life's work thanks to an FBI investigation
You are apparently crying over the fact that Manafort, Gates, Flynn, and other associates of the President have been found guilty of federal crimes. What is a well-to-do, well-connected white guy to do?! indyjonesouthere: Ask slick Willie.
If you mean Bill Clinton, he was found to be in civil contempt for lying about facts that were judicially determined to be irrelevant in a case that was tossed for lack of merit. For that he was rightly punished. But whatabout! Slickmeister got on the wrong side of actually suborning perjury in a grand jury investigation, Gasbot, and while his impeachment was largely a circus - even if from a nation completely fed up with the Clinton oral office - his disbarment was faint justice and consequence.
So you're trolling again. Why is that, and how do you align this daily petulant mendacity with goodness? You are a representative of the Good Partisan Resistance, are you not?

Racist.
Actually, various victims of the endless partisan witch hunt going on since the last election have pled out, a common mechanism when confronted with endless legal oppression in a hopelessly complex environment no one can endure. Naturally, gasbots unite in reinventing this common unilateral bias into Gross Republican Criminality with which they can endlessly troll normal people. Why is this level of dishonesty such a frequent traveling companion, Gasbot, for those like you who presume to represent the higher morality of collective, statist goodness? What I'm crying over that under Obama our DOJ, FBI and probably the CIA were perverted to become political tools to be used against the Republicans. It is so bad I don't think it can be fixed. I would recommend firing the entire FBI and starting over. I'm not even sure a purge of wrong doers will fix it because the problem is so bad we can't even identify all the deep state'rs ready to meet in secret and plot against our country.
I am soooo proud of the job Mueller is doing keeping the spotlight of the real collaborators and covering up the crimes in the FBI, many of which he was part of. Keep up the good work, Bob, let's burn some witchs at the stake. Anon: What I'm crying over that under Obama our DOJ, FBI and probably the CIA were perverted to become political tools to be used against the Republicans.
That's why you have judges and juries, to act as a check on prosecutors. Manafort was convicted at trial. Flynn and Gates admitted their guilty and have reportedly provided evidence of other crimes to the prosecutors. But that's still your spin, Gasbot, which flies in the face of the individual facts as well as the sphere they exist in. Humans already know this, they being human.
This again raises the question you've yet to answer, which is why you'd have to resort to such measures to demonstrate the moral superiority of your habitual trajectory. Does goodness lie there? After all, normal human persons tend to favor and value truth.

jma: Judges and juries?
That's right. Juries make the final determination of criminal culpability beyond a reasonable doubt. Do you have a better way? Do you think Manafort is innocent of the crimes for which he was convicted? What is a well-to-do, well-connected white guy to do?!

Still trolling, Gasbot, and as tiring as that mendacity is, the predictably risible incoherence almost makes it worth it.
But tell us, is constantly trimming the lamps and telling one's victims it's them really the mark of well-ordered thought, integrity, and above all, goodness?

Speaking of judges (and possibly juries) what truth shall the Gasbot glean from a particularly salient matter:
"Clinton's use of a private email account was 'one of the gravest modern offenses to government transparency' and said the response of the State and Justice Departments 'smacks of outrageous misconduct' said federal judge Royce C. Lamberth, who ruled that discovery may proceed in Hillary Clinton’s email scandal. Obama administration senior State Department officials, lawyers, and Clinton aides will now be deposed under oath." -Judicial Watch

The system is not complete, and it is not clear what technology is being used, but Alibaba's Sesame Credit has been suggested as the basis of the program. And yet again, that's your entirely irrelevant diversion, Gasbot, which we real people humans call trolling.
1) Wealthy California progressive elites fight for climate change regulations.
2) California says "Thanks, we'll be taking your Malibu beach house. Because climate change." What a glorious time to be alive. Also, California getting pummeled by a massive blizzard when we were assured by the climate freaks and perverts more than a decade ago that snowfall would soon be a "thing of the past".
Best timeline ever! Steve King, R Iowa, has just been "#metoo"'ed. His crime? He spook some truth about a subject and a class of people who are not allowed to be talked about, the untouchables. And the media promptly edited his comments to make him look like... wait for it... a :white Supremacist". Never mind that our airwaves and politics are full of black supremacists and Hispanic Supremacists and Muslim supremacist. So the usual suspects lined up to tar and feather Steve King for what he did not say and did not mean. But wait... it gets better. The entire Republican party also lined up to excommunicate Mr. King. Why? Because they are scared, no, terrified of being "#metoo"ed by the intolerant left.
https://twitter.com/SteveKingIA/status/1084992347178520576 It won't do any good, but call the republican traitors offices and tell them what you think. Filthy rats that turn on their own and us. I refuse to apologize for being white. As King says, when did it become bad to be ok or proud of you race. Black Caucus and LaRaza are just fine with the leftists and so called Republicans.
While all this drama is going on and sucking up all the oxygen in the room and the media, congress and many states are hell bent to reverse the 2nd amendment. To criminalize gun ownership and to put in place so many bureaucratic regulations fraught with fines and prison for failing to follow them for everything related to guns and gun ownership. History teaches us that this valuable right once lost will not be returned to us. It also teaches us that once it is taken from us that in a short period of time our government becomes more and more autocratic. See something, say something. Call your congress person.
Ah, TRUMP. Playing the enemedia like a Stradivarius played by a best violinist in the world.

Heh. . . . And stealing private property won't change the climate one iota. Because it is not about the climate, it is about power and control. "You are apparently crying over the fact that Manafort, Gates, Flynn, and other associates of the President have been found guilty of federal crimes."

Don't think that money laundering, and blatantly lying to the FBI about matters under investigation, falls into the "inadvertent" crime category. If you only use cash YOU are guilty at some point of money laundering. Every illegal alien who remits money home to Mexico to support his family is money laundering. It is a very broad law.
Anon: If you only use cash YOU are guilty at some point of money laundering.
Uh, no. Most people don't launder money. money laundering, the concealment of the origins of illegally obtained money, typically by means of transfers involving foreign banks or legitimate businesses. Anon: Every illegal alien who remits money home to Mexico to support his family is money laundering. It is a very broad law. That is incorrect. Undocumented workers have legal possession of the money they earn, and have many other legal and constitutional rights. QUOTE: Zzz: Don't think that money laundering, and blatantly lying to the FBI about matters under investigation, falls into the "inadvertent" crime category. Agreed. Hillary and the Podesta Group committed the same offenses. Arranged marriages were the norm. Romantic ones are recent, i.e. Shakespeare's time.
Probably they worked out okay. It's about responsibility, which winds up being love. Probably the same thing romantic love winds up being.
