Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

"Someday we are going to look back on this day with shame and horror." Someday? I for one, already look at it with shame and horror.
The best explanation for the roving bands of the outraged is hundreds of year old:
Thomas Moore — ‘The devil...the prowde spirite...cannot endure to be mocked.’ Remember historically the person with the role of "speaking truth to power" was the Fool. The only thing a comedian should ever have to apologize for is not being funny. The whole reason the Seinfeld "Not that there's anything wrong with that" and "Soup Nazi" memes are funny is because they deliberately play on the insecurities of urban, white, liberals. Seinfeld problematic? I wouldn't know. I watched one episode and found it "not funny". Never went back.
Kavanaugh: Just behind Trump as the man the Left hates just a smidgen less. @ Sam L. ... found it "not funny"?
google up "it's not a bra; it's a bro" and get back to us if you change your opinion... the JG Back when our kids were younger, now in their early 40s, they wanted to watch it every night. They thought it was great and very funny. My spouse and would just look at each other and shake our heads. The only one we might have thought funny was Kramer.
Sit-coms are rarely funny. They do make fun of dysfunctional people. Which is mostly sad. Frasier was the worst -- two un-aware psychiatrists that could not cure themselves.
> M, F or X: New York City birth certificates now have a gender-neutral option
> I think doctors can usually figure it out There really are 4 sexes--Male, Female, Both, Neither. The thing is that the "Both, Neither" is about 1 in 1500 to 1 in 2000 births. So it should be M, F, B, N just for completeness. New York City allows Gender-neutral designation on Birth Certificates. Yeah, people have enough trouble with their identity. "Go find your-self" they used to say. Now they say you can be neutral and have even less self -- not more self.
Imaging being a kid and finding out even your parents don't know what you are and expect you to figure it out? That's a heavy load to dump on a kid. (“what’s wrong with me,” the kid says?) Parents are supposed to help their kids figure out who they are and what they can be. People that don't know what sex their kid is, are not parents; they are just Breeders. Germany’s Leading Magazine Published Falsehoods About American Life - A reporter with Der Spiegel fabricated information in more than a dozen articles—most of which were meant to reveal America’s brutality.
Ami-bashing is old hat in German media. David's Medienkritik, which has been mostly inactive for several years, is dedicated to exposing anti-American bias in German media. Here is a David's Medienkritik article from 2007. Markus Günther: Hypocritical Americans Suppressing Memories of Slavery - Other Injustices. QUOTE: German journalist Markus Guenther believes that the United States and its people are hypocrites. Why? Because – according to yet another supreme German media “expert” – the people of the United States conspicuously suppress their own injustices while busily memorializing distant tragedies. In an article entitled “Commemorating and Suppressing,” (that appeared on the Passauer Neue Presse and Maerkische Allgemeine websites as well as in the “Politics” section of the Donauwörther Zeitung,) Guenther argues that, while Americans busily erect monuments to the victims of Communism and virtually everything else, they allegedly refuse to acknowledge the darkest chapters of their own history. He specifically brings up the legacies of slavery and the fate of the Native Americans. As “proof” that Americans are hypocrites, he claims that there is no museum documenting the plight of the Native Americans and no statue dedicated to the victims of slavery in Washington. The article goes on to refute the lying, deceitful German. Such as pointing out the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington DC.re NYT Crossword Editor Gets Beaned By the Roaming Outrage Mob
One wonders if the word "niggard" ever appears in crosswords anymore? As for the roaming outrage mobs, they show no signs of abating. Is this the new normal or will it run out of steam at some point?? The word appears practically nowhere. The chances of being understood and failing to give offense are almost nil. Even I, who hate this kind of invincible stupidity, wouldn't use it.
Millenial generation is 1977-1994.
Generation Z is 1995--2015 The cartoon character Hello Kitty originally intended for children under the age of 10 was created in 1974. If you need any further proof that neither the Millennial, nor Generation Z and probably not many of the baby boomers are really psychologically, intellectually capable of leading this country just take a look at this I do understand the business opportunity for little kids birthday parties and treats as such. But, the late afternoon tea is not for children. More importantly is the big new attraction in several of the brick and mortar stores. The secret back room--Hello Kitty Speakeasy. You need reservations to get in here and have a cocktail. Many of the older gals "love this place" it's so insider! I would weep except that the ones who can afford to go here for drinks are making the big bucks, i.e. management level. A Close Look at the Most Distant Object NASA Has Ever Explored - In the icy reaches of the solar system, NASA discovered a snowman-shaped object.
A few points. "Icy" needs context and water ice isn't it. The Oort Cloud - of water ice comets suitable to seed Earth's enormous oceans - is conjecture to this day. No one knows where water comes from which means there's no evidence the so-called icy reaches of the solar system actually harbor water ice. Dumbell-shaped extraterrestrial bodies are common, and if expeditions to some of them are indicative, they are dry and dusty, not icy. There's also no evidence round rocks gently mash together on some regular basis to create their shapes. All of that is just a hundred years or so of standard model astronomy, or LCDM-universe thinking. It's probably not going to last. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lambda-CDM_model |
