Are you kidding? I view bread and crackers, etc., mainly as food delivery vehicles. Other than the rare sandwich, in an Italian restaurant I like hard-crust white bread soaked in olive oil with roasted garlic schmeared on top. I dislike other than white bread because other breads interfere with the flavors of the real food. Exception: Pastrami on rye.

Just imagine for a second what would happen if a state like Texas elected someone to be Attorney General and that person said publicly that "We will use every area of the law to investigate the Clintons and their business transactions and that of their family as well,"

That AG would be branded a Nazi by every talking head from CNN to the mainstream networks. Maddow would encourage her followers to gun the AG down.

Hitler did weaponize the prosecutors in his time. So there is precedent, I suppose. If Antifa were really against Nazis in power, you would think they would pay her a nasty visit, no?

Bird Dog, knowing that you live in the New York, or New England area, I would like to know what your evidence of rebellion against the elites? Not trying to be a smart guy, but I just don’t see it. I live in Colofornia, and we just keep going further left. Do people actually think voting for socialism, more state power, is rebellion from the elites? If so, we truly are doomed. Maybe voting for a know nothing like Ocasio-Cortez? Jeepers! Lord help us. Please!

The people are pissed. The good economy eases that pain so you don't see the anger. But the Democrats are experts at bringing bad times to win elections and if they tank the economy that hidden anger just may well up.

Exactly! My first impression was that she was acting. I would bet dollars to doughnuts that she could and would swear like a drunken sailor at you if you crossed her. I'm not buying that passive scared little girl act for a second. And having said that there was only one reason for it and that was to sell her story which means she lied.

It's been pretty obvious for a long time that it was a way of securing power. We can also understand why the Demonrats decided not to go after white middle class voters. When they convert all those illegal immigrants to voters, the middle class will no longer be needed and then the only task left to them is to supply those new voters with benefits paid for by the voters the eschewed.

Result: single party rule for generations and a country that looks like California where it is mainly made up of the very rich and the poor.

Lyndon Johnson's Great Society has given them a solid taste of the power of single-issue voting. They've been refining their operating principles since then. One needs only to review the voting demographic of the Obama presidential elections to understand the solid feedback these election results provided to the lab, or to understand the meaning of the pervasiveness of non-citizen voting. It's rather amazing the extent to which this figurative elephant passes without comment. They have a system. It works.

A donut on a plate does not tempt you -- your reaction to it is the temptation: an emotional response. The waitress offering you dessert is enticing you (part of her job, actually), so enticement is external, temptation is internal.

Thus Jesus' response to Satans enticements, "Do not tempt me" is a recognition of his human aspect wherein He might desire to do those things - thus, be tempted.

So I was taught the difference between temptation and enticement. Disagree? Discuss please!

My two cents. The Lord's Prayer was given to the disciples who were asking to be taught. Not given to the masses who were looking for benefits.
The prayer is addressed to The Father God. Thus every phrase is directed to The Father.
Therefore, I have always read the Prayer and this Passage with an implied "You" in front. (You) lead us not into temptation, (You) deliver us from evil.

Still getting it wrong on democracy.

Democracy is not an end, it is I means to an end. the whole point of a (small "r") republican form of government is to protect the rights of minorities against the will of the majority. Not the in the Preamble to the Constitution, the words democracy or democratic are never used. The ends mentioned are things like justice, tranquility, and liberty.

I remember this coming up a year or two ago, as well. Essentially it's a poor translation of the original Scripture into English, and it's not been helped by the drift of meaning over the centuries. I've heard it rendered 'Save us from the time of trial' by some groups (off hand I don't recall who), and I think this is closer to the original and what Pope Francis would like the RC to adopt.

No, god does not tempt us. That's why I think the punctuation is in the wrong place, or at least that there is a comma missing, i.e. "lead us, not into temptation, but deliver us from evil", as in lead us away from evil, not into temptation where wed go on our own.

The other thing that gets overlooked is that in the Lord's Prayer we ask only for things that God has already promised to provide us.

Some time ago, at a womens' group meeting, the Lord's Prayer was discussed with particular reference to this phrase. After listening to earnest discussion about how God would not lead anyone into temptation, we weighed in: while neither of us would ever knowingly lead the offsprings into temptation, we both had our moments of sitting back and letting said offsprings discover for themselves the penalties of straying. If the offsprings weren't allowed to confront temptation, we said, they would never develop any moral muscles.

Long time (25 years) scout leader.
The downfall of the BSA mirrors the same process as the mainline churches. National leadership advocates and implements very liberal policies which are not accepted by the underlings actually doing the volunteer work. People leave for more conservative venues, National leadership hits volunteers with high expectations for growing the organization, like kicking a dead horse.
BSA, Like the mainline congregations becomes a shadow of it's former self, National leaders pat each other on the back for making the group more inclusive!
This is seen as a feature, not a bug

SIX SLICES of whole-grain bread, and you're done for the day eating. That's a bunch. Note that white "air" bread doesn't get much love. What the article leaves out is that most prepared foods are stuffed with carbs, which are piled atop any bread that you eat: pastries, rice-filled burritos (in a FLOUR tortilla), chips, crackers, cookies, etc. ad bulimia. They even add sugar to peanut butter (W.T.F.!) So scarfing down 6 slices of artisanal rosemary/kalamata olive multigrain boulle is probably piling on.

I do confess, though, that the wife and I were smitten by those little cheesy rolls served at the better Brazilian steakhouses. After a long search, I found an easy and foolproof pao de queio recipe that rivals anything the churrascarias serve up. After the wife and I each eat 6 of these goodies, we fervently swear never to overindulge again. Until the next time.

I like a fresh loaf of French bread still warm from the oven with room temp real butter. I can eat the entire loaf. Our local store bakes it fresh each morning and at 4PM. Another weakness I have is for popcorn. Sometimes I will stop at the theater at noon and buy one of those big buckets of popcorn and eat it all for lunch.

Here's some good advice.

If the FBI wants to talk to you, have them come to your office (not theirs) and record the entire interaction. The FBI only does handwritten notes (so they control what is "remembered" of what is said) and they hate hate hate having a recording exist to prove their notes were wrong. Often, they will refuse the interview and bail rather than allow you to record them. But then you can say you offered to talk to them, but THEY refused. Not the other way around.
