We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Seattle police are no different from San Jose police running Trump rallygoers through Antifa BLM gauntlet. No different from your or my hometown PDs. They know who signs their paychecks. Recipe for Brownshirts. As we see.
Either the Seattle Police are pussies or their handlers are (and worse).
Incentives matter. Police need to start policing to provide a negative incentive to this behavior before things get bad - as in someone gets tired of Antifa's crap and "neutralizes" them.
So if police are standing down or looking the other way and not getting penalized for it by their chain of command that means.... What?
If you are one of the stupid-and-happy Americans who have not yet admitted how politicized your life has become - if you still instinctively balk at drawing obvious conclusions and content yourself with a bland call for "law and order" - then you are part of the problem.
Too many Americans think violent revolutions only happen someplace else. Or wishfully think that increasingly strident imposition of political orthodoxy is a passing fad (or even a continuation of the "good fights" of the 60s and 70s).
No need to take masked hooligans seriously - this aint 'Yurp.
The old rule was "any country with 'democratic' in it's name isn't". I think we can now add "any organization with 'anti-fascist' in its name isn't".

Ironically they don't realize they are the fascists trying to control others. Hitler's brownshirts had nothing other these naive people and their handlers.
Rand & Dean: You are very kindly this morning. What is it that makes you think the Antifa crowd and its followers don't know exactly what they are? Their message is well-ingrained and presented with a passionate uniformity that is impossible to disregard, across time and geography. Ignore it at your peril; behind the scenes they have first class financial, logistical, and legal support.
These smug, stupid children are going to discover one of these days that they do not have the monopoly on violence and that enablers like the Seattle PD won't always be around to protect them during one of their tantrums.
