We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

I think the answer is simply the desire for attention. It's a twofer, they get attention and they are fighting for rights of gays,

I know one young boy who entered kindergarten this year with earrings(pierced) and a necklace. His mom and dad are divorced. Mom "wants him to be free to choose". If we acknowledge that your sexual identity is a choice then you must acknowledge that the campaign to get homosexuality accepted was based on a lie--that it was genetic and the "victim" couldn't help themselves. Can't have it both ways!

It's the mother that's doing the choosing. I've seen this before. The mother is resentful of the father, and so encourages the boy to be feminine in revenge. And nowadays, there are thousands of other defective parents who will praise her to the heavens on Facebook.

She is likely to need physical therapy for her injuries suffered patting herself on the back.

My experience is very few American women actually know what it is to be a woman. They have been told since childhood they are men and have the right to act like men. This has been disastrous in so many ways, but most of all for women.

The problem being that along with those instructions came a "freedom to destroy". The loss of an agreed upon moral code (10 Commandments) has given the feminist leadership the opening they need to instill in their trainees a code that allows any female to commit any harm against any white man or woman who does not go along with their climb to world domination. In their lectures the end justifies the means. Of course, the female leaders do not have either the education or the understanding as to why that never works in the long term. But, every American female under the age of 50 truly believes that if she needs to yell rape in order to push aside a white man who is better qualified for the job she aspires to inherit--she will do it and every other female had better damn well support her . . . or the tribe turns on the individual who refuses to go along. That is the fear and the shame of the women's movement. As we saw in the Kavanaugh farce.

Interesting tske on the subject. It works with some thoughts I've had on how we're using outward expressions and second-order signalling (the old gay fashion designer sterotype) as sexual markers.

I agree with the rejection of 'loser millennial guys' as an explanation. I think his reasoning is far more plausible. It also better explains the rise of female-to-male trans as a function of both this type of thinking as well as an extreme negative reaction by some girls to their overt sexualization.

At various times this was called LIC(lesbian in college), LUG(lesbian until graduation) or as my wife found out in a stint as counselor in a girls outreach program...Program Gay.

I don't think I fully understand the distinction the author is trying to make between a woman enjoying sex with another woman and her being gay, or at least bi.

I was also surprised to read that women are universally aroused by lesbian erotica. In my experience, it's catnip for the male audience, but it leaves me puzzled and rather cool.

Having sex with the same gender is by definition gay. It doesn't mean that you are genetically gay or irreversibly gay it simply means that you are having gay sex. I also do not see how someone who is "bi" of either gender is not gay.

Re lesbian erotica being catnip for the male audience: If you watch any porn video of two (or more women) having lesbian sex you will see two "beautiful well built women". THAT would have been aimed at a male audience. Most lesbians are neither beautiful or well built and may in fact explain why they are lesbians.

I think the point of his article was essentially men and women are different (surprise! /sarc). For men, arousal = orientation. If a guy gets a hard on for a guy, he's gay. for a woman, he's straight. binary choice.

For women, it's complicated. Arousal does not equal orientation but since that's what our culture is teaching now, girls are getting confused by their sexual reactions to their peers.

Of course, we're human so YMMV, and probably does.

Re men and lesbian porn, of course straight guys like it. See paragraph 1. :)

That's the argument that puzzles me: that arousal by a person of the same sex is not the same as gay "orientation," whatever that means. What is orientation if not arousal by the same sex?

As for the argument that porn stars showing lesbian sex are attractive, well, most porn features reasonably attractive actors. That's not to say that most of us in our own lives demand a Hollywood level of beauty in order to be aroused.

No, the point about lesbian porn or more accurately two women engaging in sex (they are most likely not lesbian but merely acting for the pay), is simply that it was made for men not women. Porn has many fairly stupid plots and lesbian sex is just one of them. The intended audience would watch just as intently if they were doing Zumba naked. The lesbian angle simply exists to give the actors something to do.


As for the issue of the Hollywood level of beauty the simple fact is if you made two identical porn movies one with Hollywood level of beauty and one with mediocre beauty you would lose money on the mediocre video. That is why they try to pick beautiful women not because anyone demands Hollywood levels of beauty IRL. It iAs after all a FANTASY.

A certain percent of the population are mentally ill, bi polar being one of the most common. For reasons I can only guess at bi-polar manifests itself differently in girls/women vs boys/men AND it typically rears it's ugly head at puberty. Girls/women who are bi-polar tend to be more overtly sexual and more likely to be eager to break societies rules and a lesbian experience fits that agenda perfectly. It is something they can throw into their parents face and pay them back for all those years their parents didn't understand them. After their teens and college they usually prefer heterosexual relationships and find other ways to act out their mental illness and destroy lives.
