Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

... girls could not keep their hands off me. Lucky you. The only way I could talk to girls my HS years was to seek out my Mom and aunts. Of course that was the 40's when women were ladies and girls were young ladies. When someone says times change, believe them.
BillH, LOL. I thought I was past surprise anymore; but, the revelations about Holton-Arms yearbook astonished me. Amen to the times change.
Fourth woman comes out against Kavanaugh; claims he turned her into a newt in 1984 (but she got better).
Having gone to a college at an unnamed institution extremely similar to Yale, I remember a LOT of bad behavior which shocked me at the time and kind of left a black mark on how I viewed a lot of my fellow students. Both men and women. I mainly roomed in suites and entry with fellow nerds so we didn't behave like that. And it was before our Houses went fully coed, but still it was not a good situation.
Not saying anything happened here, but the elite colleges were a bad environment. I don't have good memories of all that. I think I have this straight regarding the FBI and SC nominees. Before Obama, the FBI was regarded as impartial and perhaps working for the President. After Obama, the FBI is viewed as pro resistance, working to thwart the President. Is that about right?
I guess this is another difference between males and females: I can remember precisely every time a girl put her boobs in my face. I had to wait a long time, I’m no Bird Dog. What is Hillary thinking? REVENGE. Bitchy, Bitchy, BITCHY PAYBACK. That's my guess.
'Flee the country’? WaPo report about Christine Blasey Ford’s trauma over Kavanaugh (AND Trump)
Given her claims to be afraid to fly, how she's gonna get to New Zealand? Swim? Even a boat seems problematic if the claims that she wanted an exterior egress in every room of her house are true. I'd like to think she wasn't just stalling on this...
"Crap! YOU SAID I'd never have to testify! That he'd cave! That TRUMP would cave!" "Don't worry - we can still pull a win out here." "How? I've named names that we might have been able to shame into saying they saw it - they're going on record, on oath that they didn't!" "We'll pull up someone else, it's be REAL damaging to Kavanaugh, and he'll bail." "Why? We were ALL stupid back then! It's part of being a teenager! My own kids did stupid shit too!" "Well, better hope none ever run as conservatives then!" How would you like to be a young man in college these days - you couldn't (at least, shouldn't) make a move without a lawyer and a body cam.
The Yale "study" still grossly underestimates the extent of the illegal invasion.
Lie detectors aren't effective: Ekman and colleagues shows this empirically some years back. Published.
Ekman's micro-emotions (facial and gestures) works, but need training in it. You can do it yourself on his website. N I think some guy once made an unwanted advance to me at a party when we were both drunk and I was 15 or so. I'm not sure when or where. But he's not being reviewed for an important public position, so I can't say I crumbled under the experience and have never yet recovered from the PTSD. I'll re-think it later if it ever becomes important. By the way, I'm a strong vibrant citizen who's up to the task of leading the free world, unless I'm curled up in a fetal position over a negative interaction 35 years ago, who can't go out without a chaperone.
I went to college in the sixties. A number of years ago, being unable to find work in engineering, I took a job as an electrician. One day my helper and I were digging a trench and had time to talk. The subject of our youth came up and he asked, "In the sixties you must have been into drugs and free love and all that?" I replied, "No, I was in class or studying for ten hours a day so someday I could get a job like this one." We had a good laugh over that then he allowed, "Back then I dropped out of high school, was in and out of jail, and finally got a job driving truck...and look, here we are doing the same thing!" What could I say? For the record, the school I attended had four men for every young woman, so sex was all academic to me.
I went through Ranger school in 1969, Feb through April. We stared with 266 candidates, mostly officers, and 125 got the Tab. There may be women who could get through without help but they would be few and far between. The forced marches alone would wash most out. When I started out I was 5'11" and 205# and could barely keep up . At graduation 8 weeks later I weighed 165#.
Asking for information about my High School Sex Life makes a very big, and wrong, presumption: namely, that I had one at all.
NY TIMES WANTS TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR HIGH SCHOOL SEX LIFE
------------------------------------------- I didn't have one. That used to be the standard, at least where I was from. That's what I keep thinking every time I read something like that. If one had a sex life they certainly wouldn't admit it and wave it around like a flag. I certainly didn't know anyone that got drunk in high school, college yes, but high school no.
Hmm, How the Dems and other crank pots gonna handle this latest? The Virginity claim will be hard for them to believe since for the last 60 years they have been advocates for sexualizing anything that moves, and cheer leaders for normalizing self destructive behavior. It will be inconceivable that a normal person would not embrace promiscuity. Will they claim he is lying that he was a Virgin?, or still claim he was present at the incident and had a duty to intervene on Christine Blasey's behalf?, or demonize Virgins as deficient, you know, as in loser social misfits, or loser nerds, or loser Christian zealots?
Girls (and now women) are constantly scratching and clawing each other while trying to seduce me. And, being a gentleman, I always refuse their advances. Oh, and I never tell a lie.
The ranger school conspiracy. The story I read is that the Army sent a general from the Pentagon to grade the first two women that made it thru ranger school. If a general says they passed, who's going to argue? You know the fix is in when the congressman asked to see the training records and was told they were destroyed. I was in the Navy and was the administrative officer for a Navy unit. The DoD has records retention requirements and typically records are retained for two years.
