We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Socialist students. I recently read a strategy of substituting the word "adult" for "capitalist." A little oversimplified, but a good start.

I am curious as to your thoughts on Hillary being silent. The most corrupt politician in the history of the world, said this morning that without the FBI investigation, there is a rush to confirm Kavanaugh. This has to be the biggest smear job ever. The democrats have reached a new low with this business.

You, being a man with integrity and morals, it is easy to forget that Hillary has zero shame, or integrity. This is a women that actually tried to say she was named after Edmund Hillary. This women has been involved in scandal after scandal. Her whole life is a scandal. The guys at Powerline blog had book review on Ken Star’s book. I had forgotten half the crap her and Bill pulled while in the White House.

I used to think it was hard to meet people. I tend to prefer solitary pursuits and don't enjoy going into crowds of strangers. I've discovered, however, that the problem is almost entirely about me: I find it difficult to warm to most new acquaintances. It's really not that hard to run into them: any church or voluntary organization event is going to result in my meeting lots and lots of new people, if I can be bothered to show an interest and listen to them. I'm sure not going to meet them in my living room in front of the computer.

We tend to think of Australia as being "just like us 30 years ago". However, given the power of their Labor party in collaboration with their Liberal Party it kind of looks like they have arrived at the preferred chaos before us. They are now on their sixth prime minister in ten years. The public has only been given the chance to vote on a prime minister one time during those years. The labor/liberal chaos has arrived there just in time for us to see what the next years will look like here in the USA. Look it up on Australia Broadcasting or any of their papers. It was 14 years ago when I became aware of a large "labor studies" department in a major university down there--it was named for one of American labor leaders and funded by the AFL/CIO. Hmmm . . .I wonder . . .

More so than other Westminster Parliaments like my own(Canada) or the UK, the Aussies do seem to have particularly ruthless internal party politics; their PMs get deposed by inside coups with alarming regularity.

The public never votes for a PM; it votes for a party and the winning party leader becomes PM. The only people who ever vote directly for a PM are those who vote in his/her constituency.

Your hand-waving elitism is both inappropriate and incorrect.

This situation has nothing to do with Anita Hill. The Democrats want people to think that, because Anita Hill was telling the truth. There were FOUR more women waiting to testify publicly about being sexually harassed by Clarence Thomas but Jor Biden, the DEMOCRAT chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, cut a deal with Republicans and shut down the hearings without allowing these women to testify.

Gee, I wonder if Joe Biden's name is on that list of $23 million in sexual harassment payments shelled out by Congress over the last 20 years?

I lived in Palo Alto for several years, and I had never heard of Palo Alto College where Christine Blasey Ford got her PhD and now is a professor, so I looked it up. It is a college for psychology and counseling up towards Portola Valley, back of the Stanford campus. I thought that was interesting.

OMG! I should have known! Yes, yes, yes. She is a recipient of a Ph.d from what I used to call a "beachfront university". People get together, buy a nice property, hold courses, give degrees. Are they a quality eduction? Of course not! Are they ETHICAL? Are you kidding? I have known hundreds of women like her. They are all cons--frauds--and dutifully obedient to their "leaders'. This gal can be taken down very easily, if the Republicans have the will.
This is way more than BULLS&*t this is true treason!
