We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Wouldn't you rather be in Wellfleet right now? I would. "Impeach Trump" bumper stickers don't bother me much, because I figger all the cars without rageful bumper stickers are probably people like me.
I figger all the people without rageful bumper stickers are like me too: they are not willing to permanently despoil their ride, expensive or not, with a piece of sticky plastic.
My car is a means of conveyance not a rolling billboard. I feel no compulsion to advertise to strangers who I support politically, where I went to school, where my kids go to school (or that they’re honor students), where I vacation, or my favorite sports team or NASCAR driver.
The creepiest thing I’ve seen lately is the little memorial decal in the back window for dead relatives that reads like a gravestone. What kind of a drama queen has a need to announce such a personal matter to the world on a car decoration, usually right next to the Calvin pissing on a Ford decal.
I believe that people with mental health problems cannot help themselves from acting as though they have mental health issues. We have all seen those Suburu's and Volvo's with 10-20 bumper stickers all of them expressing hate that you have an opinion that they disagree with. Why not simply put a big sign giving the finger to express your craziness. Be honest; have you ever known anyone who does this who was actually normal? The police should pull them over and ticket them for driving while mentally ill.
