We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I'm doing kettlebells. Kettlebell workouts have everything. And you don't need anything other than kettlebells. I spent 45 bucks for mine and I work every muscle. I am swinging 20 lbs now but hope to jump to 35 soon. Small increments are not recommended. Coupled with vigorous walking. And yes, my mood is quite happy and balanced for the most part. I'm doing this with dietary changes and intermittent fasting: 18/6. A lot of things have improved. Weight loss. Reversal of type 2 diabetes being the most pronounced.
Everything? No. But, done correctly, lifting heavy weights will, among other things: Improve the way you interact with your physical surroundings, make you healthier overall, build confidence, help prevent injuries and make recovering from injuries easier, and make you less frail and more independent in your old age. Done correctly, joints and spines are strengthened, not damaged.
