We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
It's a country formed in rebellion and built on freedom from government power. That's a healthy attitude. As Jefferson said, every once in a while you have to throw the bums out and get a fresh start. Well, Jefferson's terms were more bloody, but it's the same idea.
I love the "everybody's in grief and shock this morning."

HRC MOST QUALIFIED???...... to go to jail that is!
A weke before, when HRC fans were asked to articulate what she accomplished in her political career, almost all of those asked couldn't name a SINGLE THING! That's even more funny!
Like a deer in the headlights, with no comprehension of the implications of rapidly-approaching headlights. Except a deer you feel sorry for because you know he's just a dumb animal that doesn't know any better. I feel no sympathy for these people with their shock and sense of bewilderment that such a thing could have happened - how could their queen have lost to this crude, rude, vulgar, commoner? Well, yeah, that's kind of why Trump won, because you smug elitists with your sense of entitlement and moral superiority really have no idea what's going on. You're not in control of things, you're not the masters of the universe you thought you were, are you? But very few of them will have the self-awareness to think "If I was so wrong about this, didn't see it coming, what else might I be wrong about, what else do I not know that I don't know?" And then they'll get smacked by the next car coming the other way because they're too stupid to move out of the way.
I was pretty depressed by the results of the 2008 election. I wonder if I'd have whined and screamed and wept on camera and acted like I had no idea who his supporters were if I'd had a prominent job on TV at the time? I remember feeling I was going to have to hunker down and await some buffeting. A well-meaning friend asked if I wasn't pleased to see the first black man elected, and I agreed that I was, but at the same time I felt my country had just run out of luck. He was baffled. I may have been the only person he was in contact with who didn't agree with him. Actually, I stayed pretty calm until Congress took away my health insurance. That's when I would have been spitting venom on camera if I'd had a chance.
