We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I get that it is your blog, I pay nothing, I have no say in what you post. That being on the record, I have to say that I do not get the Dylan worship. I have never known one person in my life who likes his music. Quite the opposite in fact. Annoying, certainly over rated, no discernible talent in writing or singing. A complete mystery to me. But millions voted for Clinton so what do I know?
When I first heard Bob early mid-sixties couldn't understand a word of his lyrics and didn't care to learn. But the chicks liked him, so, you know how that goes. He was great.
Later, I spent a summer at a home who's music selection consisted entirely of Bob, and he was played all day long at the dictates of the homes owner. It was still a good situation... so I listened... well, actually read liner notes first, then listened. His translations then and since are mostly personal and dependent upon time and space hence location hence mood. Which hasn't fit mine for quite some years.
not worshipping here; my comment pertained to the content of the particular piece. If you can't discern any talent in the writing or singing, i'd say you might re-evaluate your discernment, if for no other reason than based on the consensus of time, staying power, cultural relevance/literacy and public acclaim. not every thing that came down the pike was good, but his batting average is way above the mean. Not an absolute measure, of course. You might consider looking a little closer, but don't go out of your way.
Conflating Dylan and Clinton is a bit random.
Enjoy Maggie's Farm!
