We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
At 86 and fully retired for 15 years, I just don't have time to spend 1/7 of the week like that. I've always bitten off more than I can chew, and really should know better by now, but apparently don't. (Admittedly, I don't have as much time awake as I did at 30, or 40, or 50....)
Had brunch today with my closest friend and his wife. Who is also my friend. We live 80 miles apart so we meet in the middle. No church, but we all have a spiritual center and a belief in God. We also believe that buffets with sausage and bacon are God's gift to mankind. Much laughter, good conversation and discussions of life are included.
