We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Steyn womders why millions of reputable Americans are spending hours going through immigration etc on every international flight home, when anyone from anywhere can just walk across the Rio Grande:
Drudge is reporting that Trump will use the armed forces to keep the caravan out of the US. From what Rush says, there is a provision in immigration law that says if the immigrant is not from an adjoining country, they can't be immediately deported but presumably be detained while their applications are considered.
Since immigration law is so easily ignored, why can't we just ignore that provision of the law as well?
It seems this is an act of war by Mexico and should be treated as such. On the positive side, it would allow us to detain all Mexican illegals immediately as enemy aliens. They could be put in camps until arrangements are made to send them all back to Mexico. It's no longer an "immigration" issue. It's good we have all the FEMA camps already built.
Just tell Mexico that it's a $320 Million caravan they're letting through, because that's what we give them in welfare a year, and one of the main purposes is for border security - especially along the southern border. If Mexico is pulling this they're both flying us the middle-finger and telling us they don't want the money, all at the same time. Message received.
