This is a rich conversation

Russel Brand shows how to do a serious and earnest interview based on his own curiosity. In other words, he doesn't want to make his own points. Wants to learn. An exciting conversation, I feel, and rather deep for Youtube.

I like his point that learning new things is painful because it kills something in yourself. I do not know what they mean when talking about equality, though. What is equality?

You need to look into mr brand a little more, a poor excuse for a human being and that's being polite.

I have no such qualms with Mr. Brand. Although I agree with little of his leftist political and economic beliefs, I always found him to be an honest abet unorthodox observer and uncommonly fair at lampooning much of the hypocrisy exhibited by "his own side" on the Left. One might say he's a poor man's Christopher Hitchens......so I'm enjoying the interview......

I've never understood the point of Russell Brand or what the attraction is.

I throw him in the same camp as Sarah Silverman and Lena Dunham.

If you actually watch the video you might see why I'm impressed with Brand's deep interest in understanding Peterson. He seeks to understand...a rare quality indeed. Both are communicating, laughing and listening to each other.

Great interview. Whatever Mr. Brand's background he seems fairly open to Mr. Peterson's wisdom here.

Jordan Peterson is a great and brave man. I am thankful for him and his approach to what shouldn't be but are contentious subjects. As for what he should have said instead of "gotcha" to Kathy Newman, we don't get an answer. But it was still a good thing to say because the whole interview for her was a "gotcha" contest, and he so adroitly turned the tables on her.

The left is the religion of self-worship. And its foundation is human sacrifice - abortion, personal and professional destruction, etc. They don't have a monopoly on such things, but in my lifetime they certainly have been its champions.

A key concept that, I think, was under emphasized is the idea of "not doing for others what they can do for themselves". This is defining, especially in terms of parenting roles, maybe even the role government?
It is not altruism to do for others what they can do for themselves, if they never accomplish anything useful or productive. It derails their growth and maturation. In fact, it is not just myopic; it is VENAL.

Harder work than most Jordan Peterson videos. I think he needs to discipline his booking agent. I guess this is some kind of Russell Brand show. I respect Mr. Brand's intellect and his newly found sense of maturity, but I'm not a fan of his brand, nor do I think he's a particularly insightful interviewer. He interrupts too often, for one thing, and secondly, he jumps around like a jackrabbit to any passing thought or idea that catches his free-associating attention. Not very focused - and as a consequence Dr. Peterson has to try too hard to get his ideas aired.
