We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

I hope that person who identifies as an 'expansive ornate building' has the required planning permission. Of course, it surely must be that everytime he moves, he will have to reapply. My house isn't so expansive and the trouble I had getting planning permission to build it. I can't imagine I could the simply move it down the road and plant it somewhere else, without a lot of paperwork.

About the Dem party having a losing hand and all:
In  my world view, the hierarchy of both parties has been coopted by the Donor Class, at the expense of Main Street and the old Farm/Labor coalition.  If you look back at the 2016 election, it is apparent, at least to me, that there was an effort by rank and file Dems to take back their party. They might have prevailed if  the HRC campaign hadn't had an overwhelming monetary advantage and if it hadn't been for  the DNC corruption.  Contrast that with the "Main Street" Republicans, who would have failed, but for DJT and his unique ability to manipulate the media and his ability to self finance. I doubt  that" Main Street" would have  a place at the national  Republican table  without him, certainly not if Romney, Bush, Rubio, or Cruz had prevailed. In the current economic environment,  Farm/labor and Main Street are natural allies, and the subset of Dems who represent the old farm, labor coalition, they had no where to go after Bernie was booted.

I am not saying it's right or wrong. However, I would like to point ut that the Super Bowl 2018 was all about being "inclusive". Which by definition eliminates the individual. And, where were the dang horses? Are they too white? I did appreciate learning about the way Budwesier helps provide water to distressed areas. I just wish the broadcasters could have given one minute of their precious ad time so that we could see those beautiful animals. A one minute donation to the people of the US would not have hurt their pocket books that much. In my opinion the best ad was the two guys dancing to the Dirty Dancing song. Nice moves guys!

Notice to Jimmy Kimmel: Radio talk show hosts take calls from people who disagree with them. You will notice few liberals thrive in that system. What you are calling "intelligence" is actually a sort of social savvy, a cool kid/mean girl mentality. Liberals are indeed much better at that.
