Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Trump is sure lucky in his enemies and critics, even those who, in the past, appeared to be measured and down to earth. Since the election, they sound lame, or like neurotic cat ladies, or like Dana Carvey's malicious "church lady". And..... where are the professional journalists? I am so weary of the tedious recycling of rumours, gossip, and third hand hearsay, followed by half baked speculation, wild extrapolations, or fatuous hypotheticals.
Cable news and NYT have become supermarket tabloids, and WaPo is not far behind. 21st century Hedda Hoppers.
"I suspect that a lot of the Davos crowd secretly admires Trump, even if they personally dislike him or his policies."
I like the policies but have no admiration for him No admiration? Now just why is that? He wouldn't fit in down at your Club because he's from Queens? He keeps his promises thus embarrassing you and your Establishment friends? Many sources who know him personally, note that he is a warm and caring type of individual. Its his public persona which strikes terror into the hearts of PHONIES everywhere! Bet you revere FDR, though his policies sold out both American POWs and eastern Europe to the Soviets, FDR was a "gentleman....right? Of course you ask us to overlook his communist State Department and that little extra-marital affair...mere trifles of the clubby elite, right? You make the accusation of clubby elite about everyone who dislikes anything about Trump. I'm damned sure I, at least, don't fit that picture. And now you're making up in your head that he must like Roosevelt?
Rule of thumb for the other readers: whenever anyone - liberal, conservative, libertarian, green, whatever, says "I'l bet you love (_____)," it means they have no evidence and are just sharing their fantasies with us. Oh, so you're a Clubby elitist, Trump hater ,too! Who would have ever known?
Guess that's why you're just the ASSISTANT! Michael Moore: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2y8Sx4B2Sk
McCabe just quit. Things are starting to happen. Memo out soon. Zachriel in a panic....
That wouldn't have been enough to offset him taking a thinly-disguised bribe from Hillary while he was leading an investigation into her illegal shenanigans.
Arty: That wouldn't have been enough to offset him taking a thinly-disguised bribe from Hillary while he was leading an investigation into her illegal shenanigans.
That is incorrect. McCabe did not become deputy director and begin overseeing the Clinton email investigation until months after his wife lost her election bid. In addition, he consulted with the FBI about possible conflicts of interest, and then followed the established protocol. "Having trouble repaying the loan, Mrs. McCabe? Maybe we can work something out..."

I didn't vote for Trump because I "admire" him.
There is nothing to admire in anyone who would do anything, say anything, promise anything, in order to achieve high elected office. They're all completely full of shit, power-hungry, egomaniacs. I voted for Trump to save us from that corrupt bitch who would have continued the Marxist progressive policies of that jug-eared incompetent boob who rode white guilt, and nothing else, into the White House. So far, I have to admit the admire thing is becoming a distinct possibility. Like you, I voted for him over her. I was frankly expecting her to win - and I was pleasantly surprised when she didn't.
His performance since has reinforced the idea that our current political class is indeed corrupt and conniving, and don't give a damn about anyone outside their circle of friends inside the Beltway. Trump (if you'll forgive the metaphor) is the enema that's showing just how full of shit we've allowed DC to become. (As if 8 years of Obama wasn't enough for that...) |
