We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
When someone has something you want, and you haven't brought any order to your thinking about freedom and self-determination, it's always nice to fantasize about their not having any options. But this is no more a problem for feminists than it is for alpha males or anyone else.
My lovely daughter has fallen under the spell of militants in her public school. She told us a year ago that she was a vegetarian because of the cruel treatment we impose on our food. She didn't buy in when I told her that I had personally tickled to death every piece of meat we cooked in our house. She finally came around to eating meat again about 6 months later when I pointed out that she likely wasn't developing normally because of the lack of protein.
So I had to laugh at the pig/dog picture on the page today. During that ugly phase the ONLY meat she would eat was bacon. Don't ask me why. I could have ridiculed her for it, but I didn't want to push her off the ledge she was clinging to.
Some years back when one of the wife's sons was in college, he jumped on the vegetarian bandwagon citing the usual claptrap as justification.
He made it about 6 months as well. When he came home for the holidays he surprised his family by eating meat with the rest of them. When his siblings asked him how he happened to fall off the wagon, so to speak, he said:
"Well, I was doing pretty well sticking to the vegetarian diet at school . . . and then I smelled someone frying bacon."
I, for one, support the Virginia state government's right to stick it to the people of the state that put them in power. It's only fair, so long as their actions don't affect me. I live in MA and have enough of my own government crap to deal with...
"Bill Clinton Still Silent About Flights On Pedophile’s Sex Plane
- What should he say?"
Well, here's an idea:
"Recent news reports implying that I support or engage in human trafficking are false and defamatory. During the many flights I took on my friend Jeffrey Epstein's plane from 2000-2005, I never engaged in sexual activity with anyone regardless of their age. If I had been aware that the young women Jeffrey traveled with were under 18, I would have reported it immediately to the FBI."
