Orthorexia nervosa: Do anti-GMO activists have this ‘eating disorder’?

Should "Orthorexia Nervosa" be a diagnosis? No. We are already trying to label every human quirk, foolishness, and obsession as a medical diagnosis. Quirks are one thing that makes people interesting if not amusing. Many people ascribe magical properties to food. Some people think more about food, and some people just view it as fuel.

My sister and my cousin both saw "What the Health" and immediately (and independently) decided to radically alter their diet and eating habits. Both are in their late 50s.

And both are normally pleasant and polite, but given any opening, will go on and on about how processed and GMO food is poison.

I think they both may be suffering Orthorexia Nervosa.

There may well be a surge of labelling some human quirks as medical diagnoses, but at the same time people with severe gender disorders are being declared as the ones in touch with 'reality', while anyone who calls them out on their madness is condemned.

Many people ascribe magical properties to food

After decades of watching Popeye down a can of spinach, I think such a belief is warranted from the empirical evidence.

It's more like a religion. They associate with others who believe all of this on faith and they reinforce their belief and proof or facts mean nothing compared with their belief/faith.
