In theory the citizens, the owners of the country, hire some other citizens to work for them and manage governmental affairs as guided by our constitution and laws. In practice some of these potential hirees, known as politicians, intentionally deceive us to get hired and once hired conspire against us and the constitution to profit themselves. Our free press who is supposed to keep an eye on politicians (and other things) has a responsibility to truthfully report what is happening so that an informed citizenry can decide who to fire and who to hire. But the press has gotten n bed with the politicians for their piece of the profit/looting of the treasury and have become as dishonest and contemptible as the scummy politicians who lied and deceived us to get elected.

We the people, it is said, deserve the government we get and this is very true. We citizens have looked the other way while our government took our rights and sold off our inheritance earned by the blood of our patriot forefathers. We traded freedom for "free stuff". It may be too late to right the ship of state. Seriously, it may be impossible to stop this headlong fall from free people to slaves of the state. The politicians want your wealth, your labor and your children and you have ignored the signs for so long that they may well have the upper hand, the high ground in this fight. Trump was a quirk, a knee jerk reaction by disappointed citizens but he would never have gotten elected even then if the Democrats had put up a viable candidate. Trump will be removed or perhaps failing that waited out and once again our political class will be back to selling off pieces of the state and indebting taxpayers for the costs of their treason. We may simply be too stupid to survive as a free democratic republic and doomed to become a Marxist dictatorship.
