We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

 America is now committed to being in Afghanistan for a few more years, bringing our engagement to at least four decades. The Brits hung around the place for roughly 90 years. The First Afghan War started in 1839 and the last British expats were evacuated in 1929 after a tribal uprising. Afghanistan had become independent in 1919, but the Brits hung around to “help.” Given that American rulers are much dumber than the old British colonials, it is safe to say that this is America’s forever war.

Those causing trouble today go on and on about the United States having a history of slavery and never a mention on things still going on in the world like the forced child labor such as in the article on the mines in the Congo. Ours was ended in the 19th century but it still goes on all over the world today. It is difficult to see those kids having to live like that but I doubt those that want the products of their hard lives really care. Maybe they will feel better if they just buy more carbon credits like Al Gore.

And those causing the trouble are probably not aware of which organization was responsible for that history of slavery as well as the institutionalized racism that followed.

Oh, and I do believe I was the one encouraging Maggies to put a link to Gab on their daily entries. I still think it's a good idea.

I looked a Gab a couple of times. It's a mess using Firefox. Didn't try it with IE or Chrome. I figure anything that won't work on Firefox is not worth my time.

I used to LOVE ESPN. When I was in college in the 90s, my TV was on ESPN constantly.

But then it became a liberal mouthpiece. When they gave Bruce Jenner a "courage" award for mutilating himself, I decided not to watch. Their liberal lunacy has only gotten worse.

Removing an Asian from the broadcast because his name was Robert Lee is funny in all the wrong ways.

No, it's not America's 'Forever War.' Sigh.

When has any president pressured Pakistan or India to get involved in solving the problem? We have a LOT of power to wield against those countries who won't help.

Other presidents were too timid to try or were still in America World-Building mode.

If anyone can end the Afghanistan War, it will be Trump. It's all about economics.

It's hard to believe that not that long ago, within living memory actually, Britain dominated almost half the planet. In their own lingo, they've turned into a bunch of 'wankers'.
