We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
This hike pic from the Isle of Harris looks unchallenging, doesn't it? The pic does not show what was needed to get to that plateau - or to get down from it. As our guide said, "Be careful with your steps. This hike has consequences." Meaning a possible violent death. I'd rate the challenge of our 9-mile hike up and around Hushinish a 2, but for fear and danger...difficult to rate 8-10" rocky and unstable sheep trails along cliff edges.
Can't be chickenshit in life. Go go hi ho. It's always worth it when you get to the top.
More pics from the Isles of Harris and Lewis when I get them organized.
