Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

The courageous new media

The new media is fearless, more like the hearty newspapermen (before there were "journalists") of old. Why were Woodward and Bernstein famous?  Because they caught a devious Republican (actually, a RINO). Had they caught a devious Democrat, it would have all gone into the black hole of unreported news and W and B would have been back on the police beat.


This guy Cernovitch broke the Rice story. He is not a member of the Club:

There are no Democratic scandals - only Republican ones.

A Democratic president can sexually accost another Democrat woman and it's ok (Ggloria Steinem responds that every man gets one free grope).

A Democrat president can be accused of rape and the accusation is ignored.

A Democratic president can get campaign money from the Chinese government and Tom Brokaw wonders if the news of that will impact the 1996 election (to which Don Imus responds that if people listened to his broadcasts, they'd never know about it). I guess it's a good thing that it wasn't the Russians!

A Democratic president can have past associations with domestic terrorists, buy a house with the help of a shady felon, and go to a church led bey an antisemitic, anti-american pastor and it's not a big deal.

Those and scores of other things that would be crippling scandals for a Republican are done by Democrats daily with little or now coverage from the media.

The news media is as corrupt as they wish the Republicans were and the Democrats are.

What is your evidence that Lake was sitting on the story?

Nor does that impact the timeline: Cernovich stole Lake's story, accused Lake of plagiarism, then admitted he stole the story.

Cernovich's comments on Obama and Ayers were a little off. Obama and Ayers worked together on the Chicago Annenberg Challenge which ended up diverting over $100 million, including matching funds, to fund radical and racists groups in Chicago, with little if any of the money making its way into the classroom.

The "meet and greet" Cernovich refers to actually occurred in 1995 in Billy Ayers living room. Obama won the race after getting all other candidates disqualified, including the Democrat incumbent, Alice Palmer.

Obama started to distance himself from his past by the time he decided to run for president and thus had no further public meetings with Billy Ayes.
