Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

To be quite honest, I was so angry when my health insurance was destroyed that I became implacably devoted to doing anything I possibly could to undermine the previous administration's efforts, and indeed just about anything associated with the D party or the federal government. No opportunities arose, as it happens, but how I would have loved to exploit one if it had been presented to me ("The president is on line one. He needs you to . . . ."). So I can't get too upset about the fact that lots of people oppose Trump and want to obstruct him. It's a divisive time. People are trying out different policies that are supported only by uneasy coalitions. I don't expect everyone to support the policies they think are wrong.

I feel your pain, Texan, and would favor anyone but the CongressCritters who never have to abide by the laws, rules and regulations they pass on to their citizens. Who needs healthcare provided by employers when we are supposed to be adults totally capable of making our own decisions, and not small babes who need the Employer or Government selecting whatever their Human Resource "experts" determine to be best for all.

Deductible Healthcare Savings Accounts, and catastrophic insurance programs with associations amongst states providing reasonable insurance pools for those previously uninsurable. And for goodness sakes, why shouldn't such insurance be available across state lines, and why shouldn't doctors and other caregivers be required to post their prices?

Barnard College to Divest from Undefined ‘Climate Change Deniers’

A palace coup and we all have a front seat to it although it will be through the eyes of a mostly complicit press corp. I think the left will succeed. Not 100% but enough to make Trump just a blip in the road in their effort to lurch America left.
