Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Conspiring to engage in political violence aimed at depriving others of their civil rights, such as freedom of speech and assembly, is a federal crime. I hope that the administration will investigate it as thoroughly as the Obama Administration would have investigated a similar violent campaign conducted by the right — had such a campaign ever existed.

I don't thank that the leftists despise President Trump because they think he will fail. They despise him because they are afraid he will succeed.

The identity politics of the left has been met by the identity politics of the right and the left is in fear of it. They try hanging the racist, supremacist, whitelash, and white privilege tag on right identity only to find out that they are being ignored. What is left for their own identity is splinter groups that do not like each other and vie for position.

May I remind you folks of the Chinese Cultural Revolution? I propose that the communist left here in the US understood from the beginning that they would have to take a softer step. What they have accomplished within our own universities is tantamount to what happened during the Chinese Cultural Revolution. The feminist/democrat/minority actions during the last 25 years hashad the same final effect. Professor who are real scholars are gone. Professors, who voiced a second differing opinion are gone. Professors who would stand up against evil are gone. Professors who . . . see? The dems have had the desired impact. HOWEVER, at the last moment--just before they got across the finish line the American people stood up and fought back. That is the problem--they almost had the golden apple in their complete grasp and now they do not. FYI here is a summary you might appreciate:

I agree. At some point, the wailing and gnashing of teeth over losing the election must give way to some adult - i.e., considered, deliberate and engaged - political opposition to the Trump presidency. The Democrats must disassociate themselves from the destructive rioters now seizing the headlines.

Surely there is a bright, capable crop of up-and-coming Democrats out there in the post-Clintonian party who can start to put together a stand that does not simply rely on childish shrieking, stamping of feet and melodramatic sobbing?
