I no longer have any investment in any particular political values, save one: The rules created by the left will be applied to the left as equally and punitively as they have applied them to the right. And when they beg for mercy, I'll begin to reconsider. Or maybe not. Because fuck these people.

This new philosophy has freed me of more emotional angst that I can describe. Literally nothing the left says or does matters to me anymore. I don't care about their tantrums. I don't care about their accusations. I don't care if they say Trump is lying. I don't care if Trump is lying.

The left is a special kind of liar. Any party who can, seemingly without embarrassment, state that they have been the party of civil rights for over two hundred years when they are the party of slavery, the KKK, Jim Crow, and were against women's suffrage. LBJ signed the 1964 civil rights act only because a greater percentage of Republicans voted for it than Democrats.

You are conflating the political left with the Democratic Party. The latter is a coalition of various factions, which until the last few decades has included both liberal and conservative groups.

The biography provided by the Democratic Party leaves out many of the bad things from its history. However, they are dating the start of the Democratic Party from the party's forebears, including Jefferson, who, while a slaveowner, also penned the Declaration of Independence. The Democratic Party proper began with Andrew Jackson, who, while a notorious racist, also helped extend the franchise to freemen.

Both parties accommodated the KKK and Jim Crow, though it was the Democratic Party that provided them a home. But it was also the Democratic Party that was willing to finally confront segregationists within their party, even though it was politically disastrous. It caused the split of the Democratic Party in 1948, nearly costing Truman the election.

The definitive push for civil rights legislation was by LBJ, a Democrat. Indeed, it was this struggle that resulted in the swing of the vast majority of black voters to the Democratic Party, when the Republican standard-bearer in 1964 came out against civil rights legislation. It also meant the inexorable slide of white southerners to the Republican Party.

I earned a living as a research microbiologist for several years in the early '50s (before I got bored and learned to fly for a living). I and nearly everyone I associated with subscribed to Scientific American. That's how we kept up with broad advances in science, and it was the source of much of our social conversation. You could trust what was published there. Haven't seen a copy in 60+ years.

Now you got it. As he readily admits, the study was criticized on statistical grounds. The number of illegal voters is almost certainly less than originally estimated, and far below Trump's claims 3-5 million.

Why? I know the reasons offered which make little sense or logic. So why? I believe this is all about control. Absolute iron fisted control of the masses. AND it will provide increased tax revenues AND and opportunity for profits for the elite.

I am probably different from most who live in the city. I have four ATM/debit cards and I have never used debit in my life. I got rid of most of my credit cards and I only have one and I only use it when I travel (it's hard to rent a car or get reservations without one). I haven't written a check at a retail sale in probably 40 years. I do everything in cash. I have $500 or so in my pocket right now and that is about average for me. I assume that if we try to embrace the cashless society that there will still actually be "cash" just a greater effort to push e-money. I'm guessing it will be a challenge to get and use cash but that would still be my preference.

Cash fuels the underground economy, which the libs haven't figured out how to control yet. It drives them nuts to think that people are interacting and transacting in ways they don't even know about, let alone are able to control and manipulate.

That cash-based underground economy is pretty much dominated by working class folks who are eking out a living by doing side jobs--everything from plumbing to t-shirt printing to landscaping. Paying in cash, on time, pretty much guarantees timely, good results, and a "yessir, I'll be right over" when you offer repeat business. The kind of service that the rich expect, but the middle class can seldom afford. As usual, the elites want to keep the goodies for themselves. To quote the Ace "fuck these people." I will continue to pay in cash.

All the government wants is the ability to protect you, a digital economy simply makes it so that when the government identifies a Badthink person, or one with a similar name or kinda sorta looks like them or their neighbor or something, they can - with a single mouseclick - freeze their bank accounts and their credit cards, cancel their passport and driver's license, disable the chips in their phones and their cars and their utility meters and freeze the unperson in place. Is that so wrong?

But, you know, if you're objecting to this, I'm a little suspicious that maybe you're a Badthink person. Perhaps I should call the See Something Say Something Citizen Awareness Hotline and report my suspicions. I hear they give double chocolate rations for good citizens who report Badthink people like you.

I'm on an almost 100% cash budget these days. I leave only enough in the check account for bills each month. Everything else is taken out and sorted according to my various expenses. I use the credit cards for gas so I don't have to go into the store and to maintain a high credit score.

If you keep large amounts of cash in your house you should keep your withdrawal slips. It can be considered suspicious to have large amounts of cash and people have even had it confiscated without any charges and/or conviction of an actual crime. Withdrawal slips prove it wasn't earned on the black market.

These people are not arguing in good faith, they're passive-aggressive crybullies attacking people they hate. By attempting to argue with them, you're feeding the trolls. You're allowing them to set the terms of the debate, they're picking the battlefield and the weapons, the rules and the scoring system. You're never going to win that sort of battle, you can either decline to engage them or you fight on your own terms, using your own weapons, your own rules. Sue them, boycott them, protest them, demand these propagandists be fired and replaced with real educators. Shut them up and shut them down.

There are estimates of 10 to 30 million illegal immigrants in this country. Nearly every sanctuary city offers them drivers licences. Huge portions of them have stolen social security numbers. Former president Obama told them to go ahead and vote. Only a naive fool believes that huge numbers of them are not voting.

Re the Kurds:

Support for a Kurdish state is tantamount to a declaration of war on Turkey, a NATO ally. Turkey would be forced to enter into an alliance with Russia, which would achieve a centuries old dream.

Russia is rebuilding the old Soviet alliance system in MENA. Adding Turkey and Iran to it would be a world-historic victory.

You have to understand that California is 'occupied' and those who speak for California are not speaking for most of their citizens. The citizens are held captive and being bled by taxes. The goal of the secessionist is reconquista. I suggest we get a message to the U.S. citizens in California and tell them to blink if they are being held hostage and need help.
