Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Excellent start. Three cheers.
He also needs to to issue a statement disavowing the Paris Climate Agreement and stating that Obama's signature on that was without legal or constitutional authority, and therefore unlawful and fraudulent. The next problem is what do we do about Kerry and Obama's illegal Iran agreement? He needs to void that also and reimpose sanctions. The problem is Obama unlawfully turned billions of dollars over to the Iranians, literally in the middle of the night. Good on him for bypassing the MSM. How long until YouTube bans him?
Well, color me agog. Steel????? If he can pull that off, he will recreate the economic rationale for the Great Lakes Basin.
It's good to see Trump getting down to business. However he still has to be confirmed as the next President by the Electoral College Electors, on December 19.
A petition on change.org is asking the Electoral College Electors to break faith with the voters, and elect Hillary Clinton instead of Donald Trump on December 19. The petition currently has more than 4 million signatures. If you are concerned about that, you can sign an opposing petition, that asks the Electors to keep faith with the voters: https://www.change.org/p/electoral-college-electors-electoral-college-keep-faith-with-the-voters-on-december-19?recruiter=21275813&utm_source=share_for_starters&utm_medium=copyLinke Chris Austin: A petition on change.org is asking the Electoral College Electors to break faith with the voters, and elect Hillary Clinton instead of Donald Trump on December 19. It would be broken faith. There's virtually no chance of Trump not winning in the Electoral College. I am a Social Justice Warrior and I am afread.
We will find out if any of these ideas will get through congress.
If they do could be a new day in America. If not, how bad WILL it get before we crash into the wall of stupid. "We will find out if any of these ideas will get through congress."
Hmm... If Trump's initiatives do begin to get results and are popularly viewed as positive measures, would you want to be the senator or representative who is seen to be obstructing them? Interesting times ahead! Reposting:
Well, color me agog. Steel????? If he can pull that off, he will recreate the economic rationale for the Great Lakes Basin. At first I thought what, why steel? Then the dime dropped and I realized that Trump has to be alert to the state of the structural steel market. For anyone with an interest, Clayton Christiansen(sic) has done an in depth post mortem of the integrated steel mill, in the US. He describes how the fat dumb and happy industry gave up more yardage to foreign competitors, decade after decade, until only specialty mills were left standing. There are a couple of good videos on line. The story of Ken Iverson of Nucor is also a good read. Iverson was a master in the days when it took more than determination to conquer the odds against one. We need to control and keep our critical industries on site, within our sovereign, should havoc break loose.
Trump understand this. The News Junkie: Right or wrong, the man has balls.
While there's certainly nothing wrong with communicating through a YouTube video, it hardly shows courage. A press conference would require at least some modicum of nerve. Zacks
How long did Hill without giving a press conference? Two, three years? I've never seen anyone get inside a dead horse to get beaten the way you do. Will Bithers: How long did Hill without giving a press conference?
Unlike Trump, Clinton traveled with the press, often answering their questions. However, she didn't give a formal press conference for a period of about nine months. A poor political calculation, at best. Will Bithers: I've never seen anyone get inside a dead horse to get beaten the way you do. That wasn't the question raised, of course, but whether putting out a YouTube meant Trump was courageous. No. Youtube is not ballsy. Pushing back on the MSM is ballsy.
Truthy.
the beest went almost four years between pressers. So why come here daily to get bitchslapped daily? Its clear to everyone you don't read your own sources, and don't understand the ones someone reads to you, and are consistently wrong when called out on specific legal issues that aren't covered by whereever you get your talking points from, and its a stone cold fact you have never once directly responded to any challenge. don't take this as personal criticism, which I never engage in, but I'm sensing some masochistic personality traits in you. Will Bithers: the beest went almost four years between pressers.
That is incorrect. Clinton held a formal news conference on December 5, 2015, then again on September 8, 2016. She traveled with the press, and held informal press gatherings in the interim.

Handwaving is not an argument. Here's a contemporaneous account: QUOTE: "I don't see any conflict at all between going after the terrorists with everything we have got... and doing more on gun safety measures," Clinton said in response to a CNN question during a press conference at the end of a swing through Iowa.

If you'd only conduct yourself honorably in this place, you wouldn't get your ass handed to you hourly. Please provide accurate citations to legitimate news sources. That's not much to ask, is it?

Will Bithers: Please provide accurate citations to legitimate news sources.
We provided a contemporaneous citation, as well as numerous other secondary sources. That is called "evidence", which generally makes for a better argument than saying "Is not!" over and over again.

We provided a contemporaneous citation, as well as numerous other secondary sources. Instead of waving your hands, you might start by supporting your claim that Hillary hadn't had a press conference in "almost four years".

Great! Then you won't mind providing those sources. Meanwhile, why are virtually all other sources reporting that Clinton held a press conference in December 2015 in Iowa?

I respectfully disagree about the press conference. As the public increasingly regards the MSM as untrustworthy, its relevance diminishes. Few people want to watch a press conference where the questioners are only interested in asking "gotcha" questions and are not looking for any insight.
The MSM is old news (pardon the pun). Suggesting a press conference would require at least some modicum of nerve is like saying Trump would be more of a man if he showed up to the inaugural in a horse and carriage. Talnik: I respectfully disagree about the press conference. As the public increasingly regards the MSM as untrustworthy, its relevance diminishes.
The problem is that if no one can ask pointed questions, what's left is one-sided propaganda. Talnik: Suggesting a press conference would require at least some modicum of nerve is like saying Trump would be more of a man if he showed up to the inaugural in a horse and carriage. So, you're saying Trump was lying when he ridiculed Clinton for not having held a news conference? Well, what a shock. Zack: No, I'm not saying that, I wrote nothing of the sort; what planet are you on?
talnik: No, I'm not saying that, I wrote nothing of the sort
1. You say press conferences have diminished relevance. 2. Clinton had a dearth of press conferences during the campaign. 3. Trump ridiculed Clinton for her dearth of press conferences during the campaign. Let's try to make the logical connection. If Trump is using YouTube because, as you say, press conferences have diminished relevance, then ridiculing Clinton for a dearth of press conferences would be deception. Trump could be using YouTube to avoid the press. Or it could be part of a larger media strategy. As noted, there's nothing wrong with using YouTube, but it is hardly courageous. talnik: what planet are you on? We're Jovial. Not that it matters to the point.

Why go before a bunch of lefty political activists with bylines who will distort everything you say to fit their political agenda. See post 11/8 www.cnn.com, www.msnbc.com, www.cbs.com, www.nbc.com, www.bloomberg.com.... (You like citings)
BillH: See post 11/8 www.cnn.com, www.msnbc.com, www.cbs.com, www.nbc.com, www.bloomberg.com.... (You like citings)
Citations should be specific, not waving your hands in the general direction. I think Trump is going to war with the media. Yesterday he met with the media behind closed doors and eviscerated them
http://nypost.com/2016/11/21/donald-trumps-media-summit-was-a-f-ing-firing-squad/ and hours later the video was posted first on youtube channel Transition 2017, and the news channels were forced to play catch up, they didn't post their interpretation for another two hours. The media mistakenly believe that they are essential. They seem to be ignorant of the fact that they are a recent phenomena that has only existed for two centuries, beginning with the emergence of a literate populace and cheap paper. The government did not own the radio stations in the '30s, or the TV networks in the '60s so politicians were dependent on the media to get their message out. With the internet and the widespread ownership of smartphones anyone can hear directly from the President Elect anywhere and anytime without any dilution, deletion or interpretation. Notice that many of the news channels cut the video from 2m38 down to as short as 1m19 (USA Live News) The media are no longer necessary and Trump is about to drive that point home. Trump had just told the mainstream media to go screw themselves. Why would he waste oxygen on a press conference with them, when he knows whatever he says is going to be edited and spun by them.
He said more in those blunt two and a half minutes without frills and crap--spoken directly to the American people--than Obama has said in dozens of hours of speeches. He also prevented the mainstream media from editing his remarks down to "Trump is a Nazi." Although I saw they were at it again this morning--but the genius is any Joe can now just go to YouTube and hear what Trump really said. It's also loads better than the other irritation, which is having all of your positions relayed through an obnoxious professional p.r. spinner known as the presidential press secretary. I would be happy to go on YouTube and listen to Trump give his 2 minute speeches where he just lays things out, rather than all the nonsense where the mainstream media routinely rearranges everything on the TV media for an "important statement by President Obama," and it just turns out to be the same empty incomprehensible gobbledygook speech he always gives. Of course Americans stopped listening to the foolishness being laid out by the Dear Leader a long time ago. I don't know if it will ever dawn on people that Obama was "Chance the Gardener," totally incompetent and yet media spins it that he is some genius. The damage he did to our country, the economy, our constitution and laws, and national security in 8 years is truly incalculable. But now we have a real president. Don't you love a president with no experience in politics.
Fresh ideas, a can-do attitude, and a complete disdain for bureaucrats. Why hasn't he been put in for the Nobel Peace Prize yet? Seems a bit unfair that he hasn't been nominated, yet.
