We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Intimidation tactics will not work. Still, they should attack the Trump voters instead of Trump himself. Blame the people - roughly half the voters - not The Donald. Blame me. Donald just offered people a choice. Not his fault. Choice is good.
The News Junkie: "The left is trying to come to grips with its utter rejection"
While Trump won the Electoral College and the presidency, it's important to remember that half the voters did not support him. (He didn't even win a plurality of the popular vote.) Democracy is, to some degree, arbitrary. That doesn't mean Trump shouldn't pursue his policies, only that he has to work to unite the country, or discord will continue to divide the nation, undermining any progress he hopes to make.
Indeed, Obama sought compromise with Republicans, even going so far as to use a Republican plan as the basis for medical insurance reform. He also considered a budgetary grand bargain, which would include entitlements, but the Republicans made clear they were going to impede the President at every opportunity. In the end, Republicans went so far as to deny him consideration of any Supreme Court nominee he might put forward.
We don't know how many of those votes were cast by illegals. One estimate is 3 million.
Thee lowest part of the campaign is when on the eve of the election Obama went out in an interview on a Spanish language cable channel and encouraged all illegals to vote, saying there would be no consequences. Like so many other unlawful things Obama has done, he won't be held to account, but we should remember how this so-called president tried to encourage voter fraud to destroy our voting rights as citizens.
