We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Another Hitler!


I am sorry that I forget which commentator observed that US voters have now elected the fourth Republican Hitler in his or her adult life. The Hitlers keep coming, yet somehow we muddle along.


Matt Yglesias may be too young to relax about the latest American Hitler. Reading this, definitely.


I am certain about two things only: There is no new Hitler, and the Federal government will expand.

So you don't believe Trump will shrink government through attrition? I do. 1/3 of all government employees are eligible to retire. Would be the easiest shrinking of all time. Without anyone hurt at all.

He may try, but nobody is capable of resisting the urge of the bureaucracy to grow itself.

In the almost words of Andy Warhol: in the future, everyone will be Hitler for 15 minutes. I can hardly wait for my turn. I've got a list made out and everything.

It's a bit ironic that the anti-Hitler protesters are acting pretty much just like the actual Hitler's supporters did, way back when. But then again, I don't think they teach irony in school any more.

Good comments. The only thing giving me some hope is that DJT is not beholden to anyone. He did it his way, and won. So then, if he withholds thinking of reelection in four years, he can get a lot done if serious about MAGA. We'll see I guess.

As for Hitlerisms, racisms, sexisms, homophobiasims, and all other uncountable 'ism's', that shit's done. I hope anyway. Though I doubt it.

Matt Yglesias' lack of self awareness is rather epic.

On the upside, if we can keep Republicans on task, we might be able to get both parties to work toward smaller, less interventionist government.

You know who is even less qualified to be President than Donald trump? Matt Yglesias. Despite this fact, that little piece of duck spittle believes he knows what it best and who is qualified to lead our country. He needs to sit down, and shut the hell up.
