We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Cafe con Leche

The Spanish version of Cappuccino, or of Cafe au Lait. A good shot of espresso with same shot of scalded milk. Good with or without sugar. Like the others, it's a morning drink but I will have it anytime to perk up. That, or a Coke.


I found we have a milk-scalder in the pantry. Never used it. One of my many cafe con leches in Spain 2 weeks ago, this one in Cordoba:

When I was visiting France the usual breakfast was coffee with cream and a roll.

The great Mosque is overwhelming in it's beauty, tough to photograph the interior hypostyle columns with the no tripod rule. (Too much noise with ISO above 1600).

Free admission at 8:00-8:15am for those going in to pray before daily mass :) They buff the floors, clean up, and then clear the building and charge to get in.

Beat the crowds and walk immediately to the rear, through the hall to the horseshoe mihrab for some great handheld shots steadied on the iron fencing. Fascinating place.
