If the "humane" organizations are so concerned, then privatize it.
Let them round up, feed, worm, Coggins test, vaccinate, pay for any other veterinary care, tame (socialize), break, transport and sell any usable animals. I say usable because I'm sure some of them are not breakable/usable.

Ever take notice those commercials on the heartbreaking animal abuse, none of them every tell you to go adopt a shelter pet, they only beg for money? Because it's a giant money pit. Just like the BLM wild mustang/burro program. PETA euthanizes more pets than it adopts out. BLM has wasted millions (billions?) on attempts at birth control for mustangs, only to have them reproduce at a rate that the "land" can't sustain.

I find it hard to believe that they will actually do away with a black hole of govt waste, fraud and abuse that sucks up endless amounts of money and reason for BLM to strong arm ranchers for the use of the land.

I say this and I have a mustang, she was captured at 2 yrs of age and broke and sold and we bought her when she 7. She's my daughter's horse. And Only my daughter's. A mustang isn't for everyone.

As for the comments on eating horse meat. The horse slaughter ban was lifted years ago but no abbatoirs are fitted for horses thanks to the enviro-"humane" rights people who picketed, set fire to and terrorized any business-owners that attempted it. So now horses must be shipped -for days at a time- to Canada or Mexico where they have less than humane slaughter practices.
That's how much they care for animals.
