Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Gluten-Free Sales Are Way Up, Thankfully Celiac Disease Isn't
I think in some circumstances, (not the ones who are ignorant on what gluten is and just jumping on the band wagon) people are blaming their intestinal problems on gluten, when in fact, they are deficient in intestinal flora that make digestion a smooth, disturbance free process. Cleaning everything with 99.9% antibacterial means that you are also killing good bacteria. Never going outside or getting dirt under your fingernails, your immune system can't recognize what's good or bad anymore. Eating gluten free might be a placebo affect on what is really causing the problem, because stress exacerbates intestinal disturbances in a lot of people. AND a large percentage of people are on prescription medication that alters gut bacteria. First world problems. "Soviet Document Suggests Mahmoud Abbas Was a K.G.B. Spy in the 1980s
Not sure what difference that makes. KGB had spooks everywhere. So did the US" The difference it makes is that the Soviet Union was the main instigator of Arab terrorism against the West in the 1980s, and Abbas one of its tools. I find that in many cases, gluten free equates to lower carbohydrates. The Mellow Mushroom restaurants have a gluten free crust that is 1/3 the carbs in their standard crust, which lets me enjoy a pizza from time to time on my low carb diet.
"Obama Rips Into Americans: Lazy, And When They Hit Hard Times, They Turn to Racism"
That might explain all the racism you find among minorities in the housing projects? hmmmm . . . Can they do this with perhaps 100 million gun owners?

The possibility of an Obstruction of Justice charge is only of interest to conservatives. Team Hildebeast is not in the least worried. This Justice Department wouldn't indict her if Loretta Lynch watched her shoot a policeman in cold blood. Waiting for or hoping that the FBI will indict the Hildebeast is a waste of time. In the first place, the FBI can only recommend an indictment and in the second, the FBI will not recommend one. Whether it is because the Hildebeast has something on Comey, or that Comey is afraid to take the heat for indicting a Clinton - especially if said Clinton is a presidential candidate, or that all of Washington is too invested in their own power to actually go after one of their own (unless he is a Republican), it will not happen. The only hope for any justice in this situation is for Trump to be elected. Earlier on, he said he would go after criminals in the Obummer administration, but even then, I wouldn't hold out a lot of hope for an indictment. The best we may be able to hope for is that they slink off the public stage, but my bet is they'll die first. You know why Trump isn't going to lose to Hillary? These new polls that keep coming out. Like Rhode Island and New Jersey. Pretty much within the margin of error. And when is the last time we talked about RI or NJ? Also makes me think what other states in the NE are weak for Hillary and at risk. We just don't really know, because we hardly have any polling to go on, no one really polls the 'solid blue' states. But maybe they should.
The other interesting thing is the polling in Michigan. Emerson's 4-way poll from the end of August showed them only 5 points apart. Michigan went for Bernie in the primaries. Could be a turn-out problem for Hillary. I'll go out on a limb and say there's a pin prick of light at the end of the tunnel, which is an improvement.
While I won't go so far as predicting a Trump victory, the headline and lede really didn't jib with the information presented to support the conclusion. At best for the author's thesis, Trump could end up with a slightly lower percentage of the popular vote than Goldwater/Landon/McGovern. For me the key phrase was the recognition that Trump will almost certainly get at least low triple digits in the EC even if he comes up short of 270 which is consistent with most polling. That indicates that the author is making the assumption that Hillary will lose narrowly in low EV (mostly red) states and win big in high EV (most blue) states, the reverse of the assumption that lead to predictions Gore would be elected with a minority of the popular vote in 2000. I'd say the reverse is far more likely - Trump will win big in lower population red states and lose narrowly in bigger blue states.
What I find humorous is that the national polling average on RCP right now is better for Trump than it was for Romney at this same stage. And all I ever read are doom-and-gloom stories for Trump. Do not remember the same for Romney.
Polls do not show turn out. We don't know what 2016 turn out will be. But we do know there is a lot less enthusiasm for Hillary compared to Obama, even in 2012. That should tell you a lot right there. Did anyone read the NYT article from last weekend? The one where Hillary is only pulling 70% of the black vote right now (that is not polling, that is TURN OUT interest). That puts her square in Kerry 2004 camp...and Bush won in 2004. I see the polls are very close in many of these battleground states. If turn out is like 2004 or even higher in Trump's favor, Hillary is toast. Agreed. Call it a hunch, but I don't think AA turnout at 2008 Obama levels, which we used to hear was necessary for her, is going to happen.
We started on the slippery slope to a New World Order after WWII when we signed on to the U.N. charter and became just another player on the global stage. Note that we have not won a single war -- now called a "police action" -- since, although hundred of thousands of our military have died or suffered lifelong injuries while we spent millions and continue to spend millions of dollars. Some military are still held hostage from the Vietnam "skirmish" and continually ignored by John McCain and John Kerry.
Our military is under the command of the U.N. and limited by ridiculous rules that prevent it from performing at its best and fighting to win. We must take back control of our men and women who take such risks on our behalf by calling a halt to this ridiculous agreement and withdrawing from this globalist corporative that only makes money for the Industrial Military Complex that Ike warned us about. This includes all the Silicon Valley billionaires who thrive on their social media products now used to rally participants for jihad and disorder. Until our individual members of Congress are once again responsible for declaring war, we have no control -- no vote -- on how we citizens are used to maintain our Constitutional Republic via our Constitutional rights. Re: BILL CLINTON CLAIMS “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN” SLOGAN RACIST, BUT USED PHRASE IN 1991
---------------------------------------------------------- Just to be clear, they both stole it from Ronald Reagan. That was Reagan's campaign slogan. When Trump first started using it, it confirmed for me that one thing Trump did before deciding to run was studying Ronald Reagan's campaign strategies and how Reagan won despite having the establishments of both parties against him. Well, probably Trump didn't do it personally, but he commissioned a consultant or consultants to tell him how to use the same strategies Reagan used. He's pretty much using the Reagan playbook, which is targeting Democrat core groups for their votes and pulling them away from the Democrats or at least neutralizing them so they won't come out to vote. Not covered much by the mainstream media, but when Hillary went to speak to the national (black) Baptist convention either yesterday or the day before, it was empty. Hardly anyone came to listen to her. Dunham being garbage. At first I thought "well, duh! and water is wet!" But I read it and am glad I did. Thanks for the link. I couldn't agree more.
