We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Qualifications to run for President of the US? Just age and birth citizenship, I believe. In my view, Hillary! is disqualified on moral, ethical, and responsibility grounds. Trump is more qualified than Obama had been, by being an executive, entrepreneur, and by having lots of real life experience.
As I have said many times here, few people care anymore about Hillary's flaws. They are assumed, and she and Bill are somewhat admired for their handling of their countless errors of morality, ethics, and judgement. Having the wind of the media at your back never hurts.
"Trump is more qualified than Obama had been, by being an executive, entrepreneur, and by having lots of real life experience." But Obama ran his campaign!
Hillary seems to have a good resume, until you peel back the layers. Sec State; did Obama choose her as part of campaign promise, or "keep your enemies close"? "Carpet bagging" Senator from New York? First Lady? Forget it. So Laura and Barbara Bush are also qualified. Rose Law firm & Board of Director member, while her husband was governor; which came first, her positions or Bills?
You are right. The person has to be a natural born citizen, at least 35 years old and a resident of the country for at least 14 years. That's all.......
A lot of people are handwringing over Trump because he appears to be pretty scattered. However, anyone who has had several jobs in life would be familiar with the multiple "learning curves" he has to face. I'm finding it interesting to watch him gain fluency and exchange his "go-to" people as he works to master each step. Fascinating.
He'll figure out the best course to success - and it may well not be the 'traditional' political routes.
Traditional practice is to start with ads as early as possible, to 'get the name out'. That's expensive as all getout - but if you were doing a product rollout you'd be advertising heavily right before it was available. And Trump's already a known name - why not wait until three or four weeks before the election - the rollout - to flood the media with ads?
The fact that he's NOT allowing the usual political 'advisors' to 'help' him is telling. Either he doesn't trust their ability (and after McCain and Romney it's hard to get a feel that they're really on the ball) or he thinks he's got a better idea.
Hillary is an example, the most flagrantly corrupt example, of the political elites that have gotten us into this mess. We are $19.5 Trillion in debt and getting deeper every day, with more racial hatred then ever, with refugies flooding in to take jobs that native-born Americans can't have. Yes, Trump is an outsider. That is one of his best reasons to pick him over the corrupt candidate wioth the media in her pocket.
Tell them not to pay any attention to this Boomer-Yuppie-X-Millenial crap fest. By the time the child grows up, either BYXM will have destroyed the country, or it will have come to its senses and recovered.
