Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Can someone please invent a time machine to take me back to those days of sanity? It's been straight downhill ever since then.

The problem is liberalism, leftists, socialism and a kind of political puritanism. A Social Democrat (socialist/communist) economist may actually understand that cutting taxes will improve the economy and the business environment making life better for everyone including the poor. But they cannot accept that it will also make very smart and very hard working people rich. In their heart they would prefer that the poor were desperately poor as long as the rich were punished with high taxes. They desperately fear that someone somewhere is enjoying the fruits of their labor and feel compelled to stop them at any cost.

Obama has "killed us". The national debt will be at about $20 trillion when the new president takes office. The FED today is doing everything they can too prop up the economy which is still in a record 8 year long recession. The government is lying about the economic indicators to keep up the facade of a recovery. The piper must be paid. The economy will collapse like a house of cards. It is simply a matter of time until the next bubble tips it over the edge.
