We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Diagnosis?


It is medically improper to try to diagnose anybody one has not evaluated in person, but have people wondered whether Donald Trump has a bipolar spectrum disorder, such as a chronic hypomanic?

It was the 80s. Trump was making lots of money. I think he just took greater risks because of the times. He was also younger then...and the younger you are the more risk you are willing to take. Seems that most of his failures took place in the early 90s. Since then he seems to have learned a lot and only gotten better at business.

I don't think he has a mental problem. LOL.

It is interesting that "normal" people don't make things or discover things. What "normal" people do is live normal lives. It has always been those who fall outside the "normal" range who create/discover/make. Arguably every painter/artist, great musician, poet and philosopher was not normal and most likely bi-polar or Asperger's syndrome. What drives great people is not "normal".

How anyone could listen to the disjointed rambling of this charlatan and think him mentally healthy is amazing. And sure after all these early 90's disasters he still had Trump steak, Vodka , Trump University, and Trump mortgage ahead of him. His comments about real estate and the mortgage market in 2006 are comically stupid and buffoonish. But hey a good leader doesn't need foresight and judgement ! And sure he's just so great at business. He refuses to return his tax returns because he's so rich and successful but so reticent about letting the world know. That's it !

Public figures usually have a little mania anyway. That energetic, overoptimistic, quick-on-your-feet thinking has considerable advantage is some situations. But it has risks as well, including feelings of invulnerability and inability to listen to others.

Trump has clearly got something of it. The question is whether it is appreciably more than, say, Bill Clinton, John Edwards, or Newt Gingrich.

Rotations are in a plane rather than around an axis.

If rotations suggested the name bipolar, it must be in three dimensions.

In four or more, there's no axis about which rotations occur.

Trump didn't take risks in the 80's he simply paid way too much for trophies. He mismanaged them once he got them because he hired yes men not the right people he crows about today. He didn't stop to think or evaluate the "deals". It looks like a need for adulation, much as Dr. Bliss lightly suggests. The hypomania criteria fit him to a tee.

This is something that should fall under a general "fitness for duty" review for our Commander and Chief.
