Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Hate to be mean-spirited, but...

Hey, Ted Kennedy, read this: Man who lets Children Die in Car gets Life.

It is so beyond me how Kennedy gets re-elected. The story of how he avoided prosecution has been long-told.  It is true that none of us is without sin, but come on!

Even if you're drunk, you save the girl, or you die trying. Every gentleman knows that fun has a price.

He (and his family) did everything they could (which in MA means they had to do little) to get him off. At the time, it was a no-brainer. Maybe less so today, but the mainstream media's positive fascination with all things Kennedy continues to this day. Look at the literal 24 hour coverage of the death of John Kennedy, Jr., a man who had done nothing more in his life than start a magazine (which was not doing particularly well).

As my papa, Goomp, just said in an imail conversation this afternoon, "Mass needs two dead senators. The current ones are scum." (Goomp is not one to pull punches.)

I had just sent him this from John Kerry: "At 10:30 AM Saturday morning on April 22nd, I will be speaking at Faneuil Hall, and I hope you and your family can join me for a discussion of what is happening to our democracy when dissent - the right of patriotic people to speak out - is under assault."

As I imailed Goomp, "Who's ever prevented him from shooting his mouth off, with the possible exception of his wife?"
